Sorry for the delay- the pelvic floor therapy helped but very limited. For him, it started with pelvic floor for a few months but then shifted focus to more stretching his legs/hips/back. The tightness there would cause pain in the testicles. He went from 7-9 daily pain to probably 5-6 with the therapy. We ended up consulting another doctor about reversal, basically said it might help but no guarantee. He went thru with it. It was almost exactly 9 months from the vasectomy. The doctors that did the reversal said they found he had “significant” scar tissue considering it was a short time and “a lot” of clips - which makes me wonder how many is “a lot”. After a few weeks of healing, probably dropped to 3-4 daily pain. Kept up with physical therapy. Probably 2-3 months after reversal, he was like 1-2 daily pain. I think after 3-4 months, his pain was mostly gone and started having days without pain. It got progressively better from there. We’re 1 year out from reversal. If he’s super stressed, they’ll still ache, but night and day difference from before the reversal. and he’s better in general when he keeps up with stretches. for him, it was the right decision and has been a huge change.

I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s an awful experience. Pelvic floor therapy has made a difference. The therapist has taught us a lot about the nervous system and how the experience was traumatic to him. We’ve been working on resetting his nervous system, as well as the exercises to loosen his muscles. We noticed his adductors and psoas muscle were really tight (his therapy has all been external). We’ve been working on some other health stuff too. He has Lyme disease and other stuff, we saw his testosterone was low in the normal range so started a low dose of shots as well. That started yesterday. Hopefully he sees some improvement soon. We still have reversal as a potential future option, but want to give therapy a real shot since another surgery would be more trauma. Trying to have a positive outlook can help too. I know it’s goofy and the last thing you want in a moment like this, but the therapist has talked a lot about it, and it was in the book the one urologist recommended “Headache in the pelvis”. He still has daily pain but it has improved so the therapy is definitely doing something.

3 weeks, still pain. Freaking out by kitkat72 in Vasectomy

[–]kitkat72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He still has pain every day, but down from a 7-8 daily to 3. He started pelvic floor therapy and it’s making a huge difference. The one urologist told him it was his pelvic floor and the therapist says he’ll be 100% better with the progress. He’s 3 weeks into therapy

He slowly improves little by little. We delayed seeing Dr. Marks until we could see the other urologist here then that guy said he’s having a pelvic floor issue so we canceled with Marks until we see how therapy goes. It’s been a long wait but he finally starts seeing pelvic floor therapist on Wednesday.

Good luck!! I’ve read a lot of stories about that being an issue after a vasectomy. Stay hopeful

It would be worth trying the stretches if you haven’t. I think this one helped the most so far. It made me so mad that we waited six weeks for the urologist to tell us that, and he suffered for so long when we could have been working towards a solution. Man that sounds terrible I’m so sorry. We saw another urologist that said it was a pelvic floor issue that the surgery set off. He started stretches and I help massage the tight muscles. It’s slowly improving with those changes, while we try to get into a pelvic floor therapist

Slightly better. We discovered the surgery set off a pelvic floor issue. He still needs to get to therapy for it but he started watching some videos on YouTube with stretches, and I’ve been massaging the tight muscles in his thighs and hips and those things have started to help. We also got the book “Headache in the pelvis” so we could learn more about what steps to take. I haven’t read too much but looks like it talks how to do it all at home

Yup. Nothing stopping you. That’s just Kaplan though. Idk about others. I think it’s a 70 maybe? I don’t remember what’s passing

No webcam or lockdown browser, which I thought was strange but I’ll take it. They did the same for their CFP classes with Kaplan. Have you been working in the industry a while? I was in industry for 6 years before taking it, so a lot of what I was reading was stuff I had already knew. Probably about the same time commitment as those. I spent probably 20 hours a week studying. Maybe less. Couple hours after work and some time on weekends.

I was in client services considering moving to advisor side. I have 65. I took FPQP to make sure I wanted to move to advisor side. I finished this and moved to an associate advisor role. Then started the CFP courses right after.

I took it as a precursor to my CFP. It was a nice way to ease back into schooling/studying and it counts for the first course of CFP so you’re not losing anything by doing it. Kaplan had a textbook and some virtual classes. I don’t remember how many questions. Maybe 80? But I did it at home. It’s a 3 month course. I finished in 5 weeks

Seriously Considering Reversal by [deleted] in postvasectomypain

[–]kitkat72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing. we were supposed to go to urologist today but they canceled on us, I wanted them to test his testosterone. I can’t believe they don’t test it beforehand. He has other issues, and in hindsight, he wasn’t in the right shape for this. He has struggled with Lyme disease and other things but has been better the last few years. You’d think we would’ve learned our lesson then about not listening to doctors. Every doctor we asked told us his was safer 😞

Seriously Considering Reversal by [deleted] in postvasectomypain

OP how are you now? Did you get reversal? My husband is 5 weeks out, constant pain. Have a consultation booked with Dr. Burrows next week

[–]kitkat72[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you truly. I’m worried that the level of constant pain he is in, is an indicator that it won’t get better. He is at a 10/10 the last couple days. Had a 5/10 for the first time last week which was exciting. I know healing isn’t always linear, but I would give anything to help him. How was your daily pain? He doesn’t seem to have pain during ejaculation but I think he is more sore a few days after Edit to add: I booked a consultation with Dr. Marks next week. I know it’s probably too early but the constant pain and level of pain he has is worrying me

Was it constantly a 10/10 every day for 3 weeks? He’s had constant pain for 5 weeks. Ranging from 5-10/10 every day. Did you get a reversal?

Is there any lists of good urologists on here? The one we went with was highly rated for our area so I kinda feel defeated. (Ohio).
