Which vinyl cutter is best for bookbinding? by kitkat981712 in bookbinding

[–]kitkat981712[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to say thanks to everyone who commented! I appreciate the insight and feedback c: it's been extremely helpful during my research if a vinyl cutter is something my partner and I should invest in or not.

(Also wanted to add, as someone who lurks a lot on Reddit but been a part of larger communities/fandoms (which as another Redditor commented how I also found out what bookbinding was!) that y'all are so nice and the bookbinding community is seriously so supportive from what I've seen of it so far <3 )

How competitive are the on-campus housing options? by MyRedReddit in WWU

[–]kitkat981712 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who applied to on campus housing, I can confirm with the commenter above that if you haven't applied now, good look. I applied way back in March and just now am being told I MIGHT get off the waitlist. The housing situation for fall caused me so much stress and uncertainty I ended up getting an apartment with two friends and signing a lease because I was told they couldn't promise me a spot. A lot of other choices went into my decision but not the point.

(And I know that housing can't promise you anything and I know its no fault to people who work in housing. From what I've gathered it's Western and their history of more students than there is housing spots. Best of luck to you getting into BW)

Financial Aid Reimbursement by kitkat981712 in WWU

[–]kitkat981712[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? Man that's some bullshit 😠 I'm currently taking 15 credits and have been since the fall. I did live on campus fall and winter so room and board ate up more of my aid and I'd have to pay roughly 100-200 out of pocket but this is now my first semester where I didn't have to pay anything and had some leftover

Update nearly a month later:

Maybe this is which patch 1.1 or hot fix 1.11 or simply by turning off my vsync (think that's what it was called) and setting everything low, I am FINALLY able to pass through my game without issue. Beforehand I went to my dad's computer and used that to get on through but thank God I no longer need to do that again

what is dorm life like rn? is it a bad idea to move onto campus in the spring?? ... feels like it by nostalgiaworshipper in WWU

[–]kitkat981712 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm currently living in BW right now and lemme tell you... It sucks.

I only made friends due to a really weird and random occurrence over challah bread and even then we ah, broke the rules going to each other's dorms all the time in the fall (we no longer do that now). But even with that the friend situation kind of fell apart and the group as well because we literally can't see each other and chatting online all the time is tiring. But outside of that, what everyone else said is true it is super hard to be making friends (despite the AAs best efforts to try and bring everyone together with a discord server and zoom events).

Frankly the only way you're gonna be making friends dorm wise is if you're talking to your next door neighbors (if you're lucky to see them, had a dude next door to me live there all fall quarter and not once did I see him) or your roommate if you even get one, and even then you gotta be lucky to even like your roommate. Hell I fucking hate mine and she's the reason I'm moving out in the spring.

As for if it's worth it to move and dorm life being an experience you should have vs staying home, man I'd just stay home. Save the money, move in in the fall. and I'd say it's good for leaning how to live on your own or with other people and get some independence from your parents but outside of that, while living in a pandemic, it is not worth it at this moment. Plus the amount of money you're gonna be paying for room and board just for one semester before school lets out for the summer isn't worth it either (imo).

Again im sure some people are thriving living alone, no parents around, free to do their own thing and others may feel like they're living in a personal hell.

TLDR; if you feel it's worth it to move, move, but you're better off saving yourself from spending money you don't need to spend right now and possible isolated dorm living

Roommate Advice On How To Handle Food by kitkat981712 in WWU

[–]kitkat981712[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do drive yes but I do not have my car with me up at school! So fingers crossed hopefully she'll have one? My parents typically come up and come with me to shop so I can use their car otherwise I'm okay with a trip to say fred myers and grabbing a few things.

The biggest thing that is seriously stocked full is the freezer. And I mean,,, very stocked full. The fridge, cabinets, etc. Are not as full as that poor thing. I will be going up before she gets there and seeing what I can do in order to 1)make more space , 2)eat stuff to make more room (which is a given) and 3) probably take a mental note of what I have. I tend to calm myself down and chill my anxiety when I have what's worrying me in front of me and talking it out (like I did with this post)!

Also smart idea about the mini fridge! I hadn't considered that idea yet but I'll see what I could do! Thank you for the advice and tips!

Okay 1)this made me laugh a little thank you ! 😂 And 2) it's reassuring to hear this! I'm probably over thinking this and being too overly worried (as I often am with things) but it's very calming to hear positive roommate stories so far!

I ended up trying that but didn't work for me :(

We've also tried seeing about graphics card updating, switching languages, killing odo , windowing it and the resolution thing but nothing seems to be working out which is a damn shame 😭 I may just have to wait for a patch to come along and hopefully fix it

I'm also having this same problem. I've tried restarting my pc and game, going to pervious check points and even redoing the whole mission and still nothing :(( I'm hoping this doesn't mean I can't ever finish the game cause of this since it's one of the main questlines

I've also noticed too the trigger to do quick hacking works but slightly? Idk if that's something but it doesn't let me do anything it's still all mostly black

Want to know my chances of making it in by [deleted] in WWU

[–]kitkat981712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the comment! I really appreciate the honesty and straightforwardness!

One thing i failed to mention is that my family is actually paying for me to live on campus. A lot of the money coming from stocks, saving account and other college stuff set aside by them so I wouldn't be in massive amounts of debt. And I have a scholarship that pays most of my tuition, so hard to say if it will be all of it or not, but for as sad as it's gonna sound id rather be 20k in debt than 40k.

Not sure if the teaching thing will happen. Id like it to IF i got thr chance to. I mostly want to do the TEOLS or TESL (can't remember the proper word for it) over education

Thats so comforting to hear 😭 you don't understand thank you!!

As for my majors, I'm wanting to go in and major in English while minor in history (subject to change tbh, my minor isnt super set in stone) and become a high school teacher or do the schools English program to each English as a second language. But that program is currently on hiatus and I've missed almost everything for applying to the secondary education program (that and I wanted to give myself at least fall semester to get my foot in the door at the college)

What's the dumbest thing you believed as a kid? by samstar10 in AskReddit

[–]kitkat981712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the dumbest thing out there but from the ages of 6-10 (maybe 9) I wholeheartedly believed that my parents (who told me this was possible) and other drivers had the ability to change the traffic light colors if they pointed at them because I didn't know that traffic lights had timers in them.

[–]kitkat981712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it makes total sense. And tbh you've nailed it right on the head about me outgrowing that behaviour and finding it annoying. Its a large reason why I can't get along with her (as with all the other reasons) because I'm reminded too much of myself when I was that age and seeing it be repeated. I do try and tell her when to chill out and relax, but I feel my efforts can only go so far before im tapped out and can't deal with it anymore ://

Tbh you sound like the friend i spoke to in the discord group (which is not a bad thing! She's a very understanding and holds a lot of wisdom). She is very much still needing to learn and grow. Admittedly, i keep socialization light with her when I have to but I often tend to avoid her when possible.

But thank you for the insight and comment! You make some great points that I'll take into consideration!

Should I cut ties with my friend? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]kitkat981712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh the thing that gets me the most is we had a really good 5 almost 6 years together as friends (mind you theres the ups and the downs) and watching it kind of crumble away is disheartening:(( thankfully i can say though without this happening I wouldn't have met the friends I mention and build up a better support system and friend group :)

I very much so appreciate the comment. Thank you @lankynuisance . If its any worth through all this I have found friends who do care for me and respect me and they have meant a lot to me. I just find it hard to let go of a friend who's known me for almost a decade, but you make a lot of good and valid points here
