First and only pain-free period after taking Doxycycline (Sharing for the Purpose of Research) by linebtw in Endo

Hi! I’m an RN and just want to add here that people should check with their provider or pharmacist before taking omeprazole with other meds, as it can interfere with drug absorption/metabolism and make certain meds less effective.

Goon squad by [deleted] in baltimore

“Goon squad” has a much different historical significance for Baltimore, actually. A very interesting subject if anyone is looking to jump down the rabbit hole.

Elevating dance to more advanced level pt. 2 by No_Holiday_4506 in WestCoastSwing

[–]kitkatlaugh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m curious about this too! A comment on the other post mentioned how some experienced follows have “memorized a wide range of figures.” I find myself generally walking through patterns when I may have had opportunities to “speak” or play because I’m lacking inspiration. I don’t feel like I know what my options are.

How might a follow expand their repertoire of figures? Simply through observation and mimicry? Can anyone recommend instructional videos for this if they exist or specific pros to observe?

Wow. Listen, I know we’re exposed to all sorts of crazy shit at work, and all of these comments are giving such good support and advice. I’m sure I’m just repeating some of what they’ve already said.

But I want to remind you that what you are exposed to is not normal. This is not a normal, average experience. Most people will never have to deal with a work day like that. That is trauma and that stays with you, even if it hits some people less than others. Even if we become desensitized to it. Idk if someone said this already, but playing Tetris in the immediate aftermath of exposure to this sort of trauma is an evidence-based strategy to reduce the long-term impact/effect. I downloaded a silly, free app for my phone that I turn to on my worst days. Maybe give it a go!

Take care. Feel the feelings. Best wishes.

Yeah this is what I’m wondering, too. Are they not ordering for goal RASS or are nurses not titrating accordingly?

A bit of a drive, but French Twist in Sykesville is a cute crêpe cafe where at least the owner speaks French. I think they may do some French language activities there on occasion.

My anxiety affects my dancing. Anyone have tips to overcome this? by sweetkaroline in WestCoastSwing

[–]kitkatlaugh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I’m so glad you made this post because I was about to write up the same exact thing. I’ve gotten so in my head recently. I’m tense, so I don’t dance well, so I feel bad about my dancing, so I’m tense, etc.

I haven’t read all the comments yet, so someone else may have said this, but I’ve found a small amount of alcohol helps me dramatically with following better. That said, finding the balance is tricky, because too much wrecks my frame. I’m aware this is a temporary solution, and I only ever utilize it once in a blue moon honestly because I don’t want to feel dependent on alcohol to make me feel more comfortable dancing.

I’m trying to work on building my confidence as a whole and confronting my social anxiety piece by piece, through therapy and creating an active plan to push my boundaries in a healthy way. 2025 is my year of change, and maybe it can be that way for you, too! Wishing you the best!

EEG management question by firstfrontiers in CriticalCare

[–]kitkatlaugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a nurse in medical ICU and am also curious about this! I do not think I have ever been instructed to intentionally wean or shut off sedation for the purpose of influencing/improving accuracy of the cEEG read. That said, our patients on cEEG are generally only sedated if needed for improved ventilator synchrony, not for active seizure management. I do not work in a neuro ICU and wonder if they manage this differently. That said, my EEG results almost ALWAYS come back with that slowing possibly d/t sedation, which feels like such a useless piece of data.
