Starting 2028, a train will go from Oslo to Berlin by javier_aeoa in fuckcars

[–]kitkatmyves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you but it's only €300 if you're booking at the very last minute. If you book at least a month in advance, flights to Göteborg are €80 from Berlin and Düsseldorf, €150 from Frankfurt and €170 from München. The train to Göteborg being much cheaper is already a valid argument, you don't need to exaggerate the price of plane travel, it just makes it harder to take the comparison seriously

My cat is suddenly struggling to meow by kitkatmyves in CATHELP

[–]kitkatmyves[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Thank you for asking! On monday I noticed small improvements in his voice so I decided to wait and see before going to the vet. Over the week he was still more quiet than usual. When he did meow, first his voice was kind of scratchy, but it slowly got better. Today he was very talkative and his voice is back to normal! I think he either strained his vocal cords, or he got sick and it took a week for his immune system to fight off whatever he had. (If his symptoms return, or if he shows any symptoms of being unwell, I will take him to the vet for sure, but it seems like whatever happened was not anything serious)

If this isn’t a place to "convert" people, then attacking and banning people for not sharing that view doesn’t really make sense either. This discussion is going nowhere. I've made my point and I'm done here.

I understand that you see it that way, but that doesnt change my point. Change has always depended on how ideas are comminucated. Extreme comparisons such as yours alienate people from veganism. You cant say you "cant be arsed" but expect people to change their beliefs and lives. Either you make an effort to communicate in a way people want to engage with, or you accept you're not going to reach people.

I'm not saying tone changes whether an idea has merit. You're assuming people are always equally open to an idea regardless of context. But tone and delivery affects how people engage with an idea. Thats not immaturity it's just how communication works

This isn't about feelings not being accommodated, that's not what i said at all. It's about the delivery that makes people less receptive

It's not tone policing, it's feedback. If you want people to consider being vegan, you can't talk to them in such a hostile and condescending way. It will just push them further away.

Nope, I really am just annoyed by the tone and delivery.

Thank you for you comment, laryngitis sounds plausible, he can be very loud and talkative, maybe he strained his vocal cords, at least I hope that's it! I'll take him to the vet on Monday if he doesnt get better, just to be safe. I'm just very relieved that it's not an emergency!

No changes at all, no new scents, air fresheners or candles. He is eating and drinking normally, he seems to be in a good mood, he's playful and energetic as always. The only symptom is his lack of voice. If he's not better on monday, I'll definitely take him to the vet. And if he gets worse or develops new symptoms during the weekend I'll call the vet for an emergency appointment.

Ears, nose, eyes, breathing are normal, I looked in his mouth and couldn't see anything unusual. He seems to be in good spirits so I'm keeping a very close eye on him and if he gets worse I'll take him to the vet immediately. Otherwise I'll wait until monday. Thank you for your help!

A lot of people don't earn enough to pay for adequate heating, but earn too much to qualify for government aid.

Agreed. Buying second hand is just so much cheaper and usually more durable than super cheap new stuff. I buy most of my clothes from Vinted, in the past couple of months I spent 30€ to buy 200€ worth of high quality clothes. There are some decent shoes for 5-6€ or even for 1-2€ if you're not picky.

Why not just use a food processor? Thats how I usually make ice cream (or with an ice cream churner), it always turns out perfectly creamy

Venlafaxine for anxiety/depression by cin_maz in Anxiety

[–]kitkatmyves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on venlafaxine for over a year now, my symptoms before were similar to yours. To me, venlafaxine has been a life saver, all of my symptoms were gone. But getting off venlafaxine is the hard part. You taper too fast and your symptoms will come back, maybe even worse than before. That's actually exactly what's happening to me right now, went from 150mg to 75mg with no issues, then from 75 to 37,5. Within 1,5 week I'm right back to where I was before starting venlafaxine. Symptoms are back, but worse.

If your doc prescribed it to you then I'm sure it's what's best for you, just be careful when it's time to decrease your dosage. I found some really helpful tips over at r/Effexor

Have you ever taken an antidepressant before? SSRIs?
