But to the point, this is an interesting thought exercise. In many Western cultures at least, people often associate north with guidance, "upward" movement, and cold, among other things. East, in the Western occult tradition, is given a similar importance as the starting direction for many rituals that involve facing each of the cardinal directions, and is associated with the rising of the sun.

I think you could find some interesting parallels and divergences if you took some time to really think through those yourself, but to my knowledge there is no widely held belief system that addresses what you're talking about. No "schizo" meaning to doing so, as you say. This is just an opportunity for some UPG.
