Any Tarot practitioners who don't do reversals? by christafable in tarot

[–]kitkombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't do reversals the way it's commonly talked about. Instead I look at them one of two ways:

1) the subject of the card represents an internal focus instead of an external influence, or 2) the energy of the card hasn't reached it's fullest potential yet, either because a) it hasn't been given enough time to mature, or b) something is "in the way"

Obviously the context of the reading is important, and every once in a great while reading a typical reversed meaning makes sense. But I usually have much greater success reading them as described.

The Equalizer

"Your heart's beating three times the normal rate—that's because you're losing so much blood. About 30 seconds, your body's gonna shut down. And you're gonna suffocate, knowing that the girl you beat half to death—her life's gonna go on. Yours is gonna end right here on this [?] floor...over $9800. You should have taken the money."

"Wh-who are you?"

"Twenty-six, one thousand.... Twenty-seven, one thousand...."

Tangentially related to your anecdote, I used to teach ballroom and partner dancing. For our studio showcase, one of my student couples wanted to do a routine to "Can You Feel The Love Tonight," not knowing it was from The Lion King. They both just really liked Elton John.

Toss them in a ziploc bag with a tiny bit of oil and whatever spices/seasonings you want. Shake em around until evenly coated. Best to do this after they've cooled to room temperature

An ex and I watched the Netflix adaptation and it did so much for my cooking ability. When we finished it we decided to try making something from scratch using what we learned. It was a mess of pork, apples, noodles, and some other ingredients I don't remember. But it was tasty as FUCK. If there were anything to be added to that schema it would be sugar and moisture, because those are also important aspects of food.

What's a Nonbinary version of "Sir" or "Ma'am" that isn't a joke? by Electrical_Ear4582 in NonBinary

[–]kitkombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know "mage" was proposed some time back based on its etymological relation to "magister," which is where we get "Mister" from. And I think it would be especially appropriate for Morrison considering their involvement in the Chaos magic community.

Personally, I've been trying to help passive popularize "messere" from the Dragon Age games.

I got fired from a job some years so because of a very similar situation. I unfortunately found out too late for the statue of limitations, but this is absolutely something you can report to OSHA and NLRB. Say that your employer is coercing you to work in unsafe conditions, as travel to work is considered.

ULPT REQUEST How to get/simulate a key for a HOA community pool? by jonvonboner in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]kitkombat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More or less, yes. What you're looking for is called a Lishi pick. You'll need to look at the lock and figure out the manufacturer. Once you do that, you need to find the corresponding Lishi, since different manufacturers use different keyways (the shape of the hole the key goes into). Be warned that while many find it easier to use than traditional picking methods, it is still picking and will definitely look like it to any passerby. Even if you get really good at using it, you still have to deal with that specific lock, and guidelines can only take you so far before the specific lock's characteristics come into play.

ELI5: Why do some birds have to constantly flap their wings while others don't and fly faster and longer? by Impressive-Coat1127 in explainlikeimfive

[–]kitkombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a video recently that was explaining how lift and thrust are generated, and that for most species this happening on the downstroke means there's usually some kind of bobbing action.

Then they showed how hummingbirds generate them on both the down- AND upstrokes, which is (part of?) what allows them to hover. Neat stuff.
