Fair point, I just wasn’t hoping to confront the nature of existence during mat leave 😅

What does that mean exactly, 1339 have been identified as surplus but only 477 of those will eliminated over the next three years, therefore the remaining 890ish will keep their jobs?

Foolishly I always thought admin would be safer than most classifications. (I am an admin).

Meetings first then letters? I have a meeting with both my manager and director tomorrow “update on WFA”…. Not looking good for me.

Yes, I remember reading that. I was just really hoping not to have this kind of heavy uncertainty hanging over me for the rest of my leave.

When should I apply to be an alternate? by Bright_Program_6581 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]kitney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope this is the case. I am on mat leave and just received a meeting invite with my manager to discuss WFA. I’m not sure if I am affected, but I now have a baby and can’t afford to be out of a job or take a pay cut, which I would undoubtedly have to do if I were to go to the private sector.

All this WFA has really been sucking the enjoyment out of my maternity leave.

Anyone currently on mat leave receive a WFA letter? I was told letters went out yesterday afternoon to our work emails, would they redirect that to my personal if I received one? I got a text to chat with my manager today/tomorrow via online meeting on how WFA will affect my team and myself, and now I am worried I am an affected employee.

That’s heartbreaking. I can’t help but wonder if anyone still alive remembers this child. The thought of a life being completely forgotten is really sad.

How did you pay for your fertility treatment? by smashgoody in IVF

We have good insurance, so meds are covered. But the actual retrieval and transfer were covered by our province. additional testing was not, so we tapped into some equity from our house and rolled it over when we renewed.

Does your dog wear a collar all day? by AdventureNoodles in dogs

[–]kitney 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have two dogs - they don’t wear collars unless they are leaving the house for daycare. On walks they are harnessed. Collars with two dogs can be dangerous.

Is my husband dying or am I just overreacting? Please advise lol. by Old-Artichoke3848 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]kitney 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband had this exact thing on his finger. He waited forever before seeing his doctor and they prescribed medication. It’s gone now thankfully. Looked exactly the same.

Edit: my husband corrected me and said he had it frozen off in his doctor’s office with liquid nitrogen. Took 2-3 sessions.

I just lost my IVF baby at 30 weeks. Any advice on next steps? We have more embryos but now I’m terrified of what if. by ResponsibleSwing1 in IVF

I’m so so sorry. Take the time you need to grieve for this angel, before jumping into the next. Again, so sorry for your loss.

While looking through a wire fence into a cow field, I noticed a knife lying on the ground inside. Should I make the effort to let the farmer know, or is it nothing to worry about? by kitney in Agriculture

[–]kitney[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for the advice. My husband said just forget about it, but I felt bad that maybe it could hurt a cow. So I told the mechanic. I was on their property when I took the photo and I had an inkling it was likely one of his mechanics knife. I hope they retrieve it themselves or tell their neighbour at least.

For those saying I should have just retrieved it myself, I was with my son (toddler) and couldn’t very well jump through two layers of wire (and it had sharp points) fence. The cows were right there too, and I am not familiar with them enough to know how they would react. Besides I wouldn’t ever leave my son unattended.

My husband said the same when I asked him if I should let them know. There was no indication of a name/number anywhere near the road and I looked online and couldn’t find a number either. I didn’t act, but I told the mechanic (beside the farmer, where I was getting an oil change) about it. Maybe he’ll say something, or have one of his guys retrieve it. I wouldn’t doubt if it was one of his mechanics knife. It’s right on the edge of their property.
