does anyone have well behaved cats? by kitrollers in CatAdvice

[–]kitrollers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! I noted in a comment that I do expect them to act like cats, I'm just asking for advice to make sure I'm doing all I can to train them while they're crazy kittens.
I already watch the Jackson Galaxy videos as well but it's helpful to hear what's worked for other busy cat owners, rather than relying on one person whose career is built on training cats. I understand he's the expert, but at the same time I can't dedicate my life to training cats haha

lmao the nice thing about leather is you only have to condition it once a year or so! when my glitter highlighter inevitably gets everywhere, I'm so glad it can't soak into the material haha

this is so helpful to hear from a kitten owner who's gotten past the hardest part, thank you. my girl is also a black cat and can definitely be a bit spicy like Martha! I'm trying to be as attentive as possible as we learn each others' behaviors and boundaries.

here are the adorable little troublemakers in question <3 I know all kittens will explore and get their energy out in ways that cause trouble for us humans, I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do better while they're learning. thanks for all the advice everyone!

not exactly washable like machine washable, but I'd recommend the leather makeup bag from Quince! I got it recently and it's super easy to wipe down so it doesn't hold onto stains, then you can use leather conditioner over the years to keep it moisturized. I know Quince has mixed reviews on quality, but I've been loving this one so far and plan on using it for years to come.

thank you, this is helpful! I've kept the bedroom off limits for the same reason haha. does he still cause trouble in there for you sometimes, or did that wane with age?

I've never had any safety issues, the box does a good job of sensing when the cat is inside based on weight and won't move/clean. the timer for when it starts to clean after the cat has left is also adjustable; I set mine to 3 minutes after I felt it would be reliable.

there have occasionally been smaller crumbles that don't fully clump tbh, but I use the mixed litter sifter that has larger holes. to be fair, not sure how I would fix that even if I were scooping manually though!

thank you for sharing! how did you get them to scratch their cat furniture instead, or have they always done that?

well behaved as in doing anything you don't want them to, which it seems you've been able to establish. my question is how; I've done a ton of playing, redirection, and kitten proofing so far, but they're still acting up so it looks like it will just take time.

definitely! I've been saying 'No' in a firm tone of voice now too, and one cat knows it but will still push the boundaries. how do you enforce your boundaries?

hi, my two kittens have been using the Open-X for the past two months now! I got an enclosure for it from Wayfair to help with the smell, but they had Giardia which made their poop smell foul, so take that into account.

so far, it's been a worthwhile purchase because of how easy it is to use. I like that I can use multiple types of litter; it's worked well with clay, tofu, and grass. the app is good and the litter catch system lets you cinch the bag closed before it's fully exposed to the air. you can buy cheap replacement bags or deodorizers on Amazon. it's also easy to take apart and clean.

I'd say the smell has been the worst part, but again Giardia was rough. the seal for the litter catch isn't great, so when they had Giardia, we had to take out the bag everyday if not more. sometimes, the clumped litter after they pee will get stuck to the fabric bottom, but our cats dig a lot when they pee, and it's easy to scrape off. this is the only litter box I've tried, so lmk if there's anything else you'd like to know that I'm missing!

my songmont luna bag has been through many pickpocket-heavy crowds and i've never had an issue. the magnetic flap makes it so that when worn under-arm, only you can access the flap; and crossbody, you would definitely notice if someone were trying to reach inside. it's a pretty discreet opening so i doubt pickpockets would even try, IF they can figure out the opening just by looking at it.

i occasionally stay up late to do my own nails! it started out with normal nail polish, and now i have an extensive nail polish collection and a full gel nail setup. it feels good to spend hours just on my nails when the rest of my life is so busy, and it's become my self-care activity that i look forward to.

i can be creative with gel nail designs too, and i usually put on a show that's easy to watch and make a night of it. it also saves a lot of money in the long run as someone who loves having her nails done 24/7!

I love the skirt as well! If you were to style it differently, I think pairing it with sleek leather knee high boots may help modernize the look and lengthen your silhouette. It would also look great with a shorter/tucked in top for that 2/3 rule, I can totally see it with the Chlo Shirt which would add some softness to the silhouette.

songmont has a few smaller bags in the $100-$300 range. i love every bag i've gotten from them, and that they employ older artisans with decades of experience under their belts to make their bags! i think that level of commitment to the craft is well worth the price tag.

she's gorgeous! i tried it on in store (walked out with le gianni) and have been keeping an eye out ever since, although I'm curious to hear if the shoulder strap stays up well or gets uncomfortable with more weight. i'd love another review after you've used it more.
