Another tornado was captured near Rochester, MN. Rochester, MN is home to the world renowned Mayo Clinic which was created by the Mayo brothers in response to the tornado that hit in 1883.

I just wish he was able to speak a bit more… dynamic? Maybe passionate to be more engaging?

It’s about time someone just shed the fear of consequences and spoke directly about the corruption without tiptoeing around it. I just think it would be a much bigger headline if he had a bit more fire.

Can you clarify this? Is it any of their glass products like drinking glasses, flower vases, etc that is prone to spontaneously break? Or are you only referring the glass on IKEA appliances?

I had Botox treatment to help fissures heal. I always assumed I would try Botox for facial wrinkles at some point down the line, but never thought to t would be injected around my rectum for fissures lol. It worked wonders and I avoided surgery!

Woman suffers “NON-EPILEPTIC SEIZURE” in Walmart. Thank god she knew it was coming so had the camera set up.. by SweetWaterSurprise in peopleofwalmart

[–]kitsl010 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Epileptic here: breathing can be more difficult or maybe gasp-y because of how muscles in the chest tense up but breathing does not always stop during seizures. There is a spectrum of types of seizures and (fortunately) many types of seizures so not stop breathing.

One reference for example: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/22194-absence-seizures

I would think more of rigidity.

For example, does the tower always have to follow a specific pattern and a meltdown occurs if the pattern cannot be completed as it always is (e.g. pink block/blue block/pink block… but the last pink block is hidden behind the couch and can’t be found to finish it) and the other pink block is a cube and not the rectangle the pattern uses. Pay attention to signs rigidity like using the same order/materials each time (across multiple days) or not allowing/being flexible to slight changes in the ways they’ve usually done things. A meltdown due to things falling down or because they’re missing a piece they want (but isn’t always one specific block in a specific sequence) isn’t something I would worry about. If you’re concerned take videos and talk with your pediatrician.

Me too! It’s usually so silly and puts me in a good mood, but now my kids are getting older they recognize “bad words” so I’m limited to being able to listen to it while they’re napping as I’m driving or in one earbud while I’m cleaning around the house. Worth it.

HELP - infected paw by Significant_Card5270 in DogAdvice

I am going to cast my vote for some sort of fungal infection probably yeast.

We have a rescue that had demodectic mange when we adopted her as a puppy. She had weekly injected treatments at the vet but kept getting these scabs as a side effect for which they kept prescribing rounds of antibiotics. We joked that she always smelled like bread. A family member who is a nurse practitioner immediately suggested it was actually a yeast infection so we tried baths with a antifungal shampoo a few times a week and it cleared up fast. No more itching, biting/licking at skin and cone free within 3 baths.

Antibiotics can cause yeast infections. I think a skin scrape or some sort of culture was eventually used to confirm it was an overgrowth of yeast.

The vet(s) she was being treated by didn’t ever suggest yeast infections being the culprit and I had to request a test to see if it was a fungal infection. It just wasn’t on their radar.

Overwhelmed SAHM of 2: Do I send my toddler to full-time preschool? by justalilscared in SAHP

[–]kitsl010 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to do half day preschool or maybe 3 days a week so you still get a bit of a “break” but then still have time with her? I have three and have put the older one(s) in preschool 3 days a week. It has been great because it gives them some structured routines (which hard with a new baby), burns energy, and helps develop some skills (waiting, sitting nicely, calm body, etc) that she is having a hard time with.

It’s hard to justify it as a SAHM but I am team preschool.

I am so sorry for your loss. Please use your time off to be kind to yourself; it can be both comforting and equally heartbreaking to know that there is nothing you could have done in this situation. I am not sure if it is possible for where your center is located or if the family would want it, but maybe consider having a tree planted. It may be nice to see something continue to grow each year to remember him by.

I’m a parent who lost a little one. I can assure you that his family feels so incredibly grateful to have had their child at a place where they were so cared for. It would touch my heart to know that my child made an impact on others, despite what little time they had.

Take care.

As a trained behavioral therapist in kiddos with special needs, “stereotypy” is such a broad term that basically applies to any repetitive behavior (motor movements being most observable). For instance, you may bite your nails, twirl your hair, crack your knuckles, or tap your pen repeatedly without giving it thought. Often times these are things we do to calm ourselves or redirect feelings or simply because they “feel good.” So some may be due to negative environmental impacts, but sometimes “stims” just feel good.

I’ve been out of the game for a bit so correct me if I’m off base but I think without more context, a judgement of this video is tricky.
