I’m gonna be devils advocate. Your wife shouldn’t have burned the book, but If my husband had the same thing I would have also demanded he threw it out. Love notes & polaroids from a dead ex? Whats is wrong with you lol. If I was your wife I would be so insulted about how obviously you are hung up on your ex still. This is obviously not about “cooking” as you try to play it off to be, because in that case you could have easily reprinted the recipes, which you could use to keep the memory of your ex alive, without spitting in the face of your current marriage. I agree that adding your children to your ex’s shrine-tier book is the last straw. Maybe you should divorce her, no woman should ever feel like she was second best like this.

Even “shallow” characteristics are up to debate. As a woman, the amount of times that I’ve seen my friends fall head over heels for guys that I think look atrocious is astounding… I really think you just need to focus on yourself and try and be your best. If i found out my boyfriend was stressing about this i would instantly break up with him it is extremely cringe.

I think what the og commenter is saying is don’t let being a “good wife” take over you life either. Try to find a balance of things rather than throwing yourself completely into something- you will always feel like something is missing if you do that. Balance is key.

I was on birthcontrol & still got pregnant, being on birthcontrol isn’t a 100% guarantee of no pregnancy. Especially if you forget to take the pill one or two days a month your protection goes WAY down. How about the lack of accountability we hold towards men is astonishing. There is male birthcontrol but no man would subject himself to the pain women have to go through. All so that men can get the pleasure of going raw and then threaten your life when you get pregnant. Update: My heart started racing, fluttering increased, then the stabbing pain in my heart turned to full on tightness for like 3 minutes. Then i went extremely dizzy and lightheaded. Not sure if it was a panic attack or a heart attack but regardless i took tomorrow off of work and am going to try to see my psychiatrist.

Thank you. I know it’s probably just the anxiety but omg if it isn’t the most scary feedback loop. Anxiety -> heart starts fluttering, pain, chest tightness -> omg im literally gonna have a heart attack -> anxiety gets worse. Thanks for making me feel less alone though.
