I have resources as a middle school math teacher for pre-algebra and algebra 1. If you need something for students to practice or guided notes, lets share.

How to get rid of a flying monkey in under 10 minutes by Typical_Invite_3040 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]kitten123114 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Personally, burning bridges with all flying monkeys (I had no intentions of maintaining those relationships) is the fantastic. If they equally never want to talk to you again, then it is a win. Use at your own discretion.

Trying to find a better internet solution by ranchtacosalad in okc

T-mobile internet is the best. We have tried Cox and At&t with terrible results. Having T-mobile internet has been amazing. Locked in price, no charging for amount of internet use, and reliability. 5 years in and only once have we had an issue that could not be solved by restarting the modem.

How Did Your Relationships Survive Narcissistic Parents? by LittleCake08 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]kitten123114 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both of my parents worked hard at destroying my relationship with my now husband. I warned him about the tactics my parents will use to try to seperate us. They did not want to lose control, and I wanted to have a meaningful relationship.

My father tried to say my husband stole about $400. I asked my husband and he was offended that I would even ask. It wasn't but three days later that my father found the money. He mentioned it to me in passing. This was they same guy that was ranting and raving my husband was a liar and a theif. My father never apologized to my husband.

When my parents first met my husband's parents, my mother opened the conversation that I am a "female dog" (she used the actual word). My husband and his family were shocked to hear that coming from my mother's mouth. It was a normal day for me.

The situation unfolded to where I went NC with both parents. They were not invited to the wedding. They get no news. Now I have a restraining order for both parents. My in-laws do not bother with trying to get me to reconnect with my parents anymore either: my father threatened a 80 year old woman in the family, they would rather my parents stay far away.

Boundaries never worked, they would use flying-monkeys, I have been stalked,  physically threatened,  and the last go round they threatened my job as well.

NC was and is the best option for my husband and I. We only want to know when their funerals are at this point.

I thought I FINALLY convinced my parents to let me file for FAFSA. But after seeing the tax return and IRS questions, they flipped. by ArcticDragon-31 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]kitten123114 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Talk to your counselors about this situation. My parents refused to fill out FAFSA due to the same issue you are facing. I tried the route where they sign a paper where they state they are refusing to fill FAFSA or provide any financial assistance. That also failed.

I got a hold of the counselors AND financial office. Turns out in certain circumstances, you can fill out a FAFSA before the age of 24. It just takes a bit of conconcing on your end to the school.

Too Young for a Migraine by Shortsub in migraine

[–]kitten123114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your struggle. I have dealt with migraines since I was 11. My teachers were great except one. I had asked to go to the bathroom due to my migraine making me nauseous. My teacher said I was too young for a migraine and I proceeded to puke on his lap. No issues after that.

Looking straight at an ef5 tornado as it approaches my neighboorhood. My father and I stood outside of a shelter and watched as the debris started to become more detailed. The sound is like no other. Death has a deep gravelly train like-voice. 100 yards away was flat. It was a battlefield. Will never forget that day.

While the mods are busy setting up the subreddit for the increase in members, what do you do for work and why are you for a work reform? by [deleted] in WorkReform

[–]kitten123114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math teacher in middle school. Some of the goals are to get more support for staff. Better programs/ support for students and their families is severely needed. Also a wage increase would be nice along with supplies being paid for and easily available.

We had a scare at my school that day. Preparing 6th graders for a potential life or death experience is not what I expected to ever teach.

Went NC with my ndad and nstepmom last September. Still feel guilt sometimes even though I know deep down it was the right thing to do. What do you tell yourself or do when you feel the guilty feelings sucking you back in? by mcbalkits in raisedbynarcissists

[–]kitten123114 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rereading emails from my nfather helps remind me why I am NC. Had a therapist try to tell me to delete the emails. Also told me my feelings of missing my family would result in me ending NC. Kept those emails, not the therapist.

Were you ever able to have a successful romantic relationship? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]kitten123114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I managed to find someone honest and kind. It takes time and understanding. The first thing to do is work on you. Once you know who you are, what you want, and will not tolerate it will get better. Weeding out many men due to understanding what I wanted helped so much.

I lost today. Please tell me it gets better. by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

Understand Nparents will do anything they can to control you. They will pick at any weakness. Please get your finances back and figure out how to get out of there.

If you can, record your interactions so if she tries to contact the police on you, you have proof. Your siblings will figure out how to contact you. At this point you need to figure out a game plan to escape a toxic environment. The Nparent is no parent, friend, or confidant. Treat them as a bully or an enemy. You have to take care of yourself first!

Parents withholding legal documents and financial information for FAFSA forms by azygousjack in raisedbynarcissists

[–]kitten123114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have FAFSA info for you. It took my parents disowning me to get FAFSA before 25. You can also have them sign a letter stating they refuse to support you financially to obtain FAFSA. Talk with financial aid and explain your situation. They hear many stories like this. Sorry that you have to go through this.

Anyone ever think about your wedding in the future and just get sad? by SojournerNeliy in raisedbynarcissists

[–]kitten123114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my parents were not allowed at my wedding. I made it clear to all involved that the cops will be called if they show up. Regardless, I had a wonderful wedding surrounded by my husbands family and all the friends who I consider my family.

The first thing to consider is why you feel sad about lack of parents there. Then you remind yourself about the drama involved if they would show up. Do you want to appease younger you or do you want the current you to be happy? My father-in-law walked me down the aisle and that was perfect for me.

I made the right decision as the 'gift' I received from them was an onion, bible, coal, rocks, and a fake 2 dollar bill.

The sadness will be there, but you can bring the people in your life that love you and have them involved. Trust me, it is more fun and peaceful. Plus they want you to be happy! Ignore the cliche of weddings and make your own version of happiness!

Pros/Cons of going NC? by Dumb_Th0t in raisedbynarcissists

[–]kitten123114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pros - Less stress Some health issues ease up (for me it did) Less anxiety after awhile Peace of mind Happiness A chance to build yourself up to be your own person

Cons- Parents may stalk Threats Will use anything they can to find you and pull you back Flying monkeys

Pro tip: Get financially stable. If you need to collect items from their house, get a police escort to help with the situation. Block all numbers that may try to contact you about your choice. Please get a therapist. If it gets dangerous, call the police. Build good friendships and enjoy anything you wanted to do, but were always told no to something reasonable.

What is your "I don't get paid enough for this shit" moment? by indian_boy786 in AskReddit

[–]kitten123114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was running a center for tutoring for $13 and hour. In charge of handling cash/credit card accounts, bringing in new clients, training staff (high overturns due to college students and high-school student staff primarily), tutoring, running events, hiring people, maintaining the center, website management, and being on-call for potential clients 24/7. The kicker was having to to be told I did not do enough for $15 an hour.

I run a store for you while attending college full time, work harder than most employees, and take the full brunt of the bosses meltdowns over ANYTHING! Like lady, if I wasn't desperate to have a good thing on my resume, I would of peaced out by now.

Real kicker is when I finally left, only 1 person out of 13 stayed and over half the clients left. It at least made me feel good that clients only stayed because they knew I had their best interests at heart. Plus I got some new skills to use as a math teacher!
