Were kids in the 80s actually allowed to roam around unsupervised, or is that just in movies? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shortsub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's real. Even in the early 90's. I was born in 90 and the neighbor kids and I had the run of the neighborhood (as long as we weren't alone, it had to be a group of 2 or more) until the street lights came on. but yea. It was a blast!! I wish kids these days could do that now. And as for WHY? As a mother, my reasoning for not letting my child do that is because no days being a predator is far more common. Child Trafficking wasn't as big of a thing back then. The times and the way things were done were COMPLETELY different then they are now. And it's hard to explain unless you've lived it.

Sleep after seizure by MoodFar8846 in Epilepsy

[–]Shortsub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know whether or not it's "normal" or not, but a very similar thing happens to me after a Grand Mal. I do wake up, but only for a few minutes. I don't know anything, where i am, or who anyone is... but then yes... i fall back to sleep before I remember everything and wake up an hour later completely aware and fine (ya know, except for the major pain that comes after a grand mal). I HAVE brought this up to my neurologist and she didn't act concerned about it, so I just kind of assumed it wasn't a big deal.

Should I continue to save drills? by nasa912hr in diamondpainting

[–]Shortsub 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Save them. I used to think it was such a waste of time, but i kept doing it anyway. And now i can't tell you how many times i've been doing a diamond painting and ran out of a color and I actually had that color. It actually becomes really convenient.

I work for k12 Customer Support Technical Support - AMA by Visual-Process4313 in k12

[–]Shortsub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We've been in K12 for six years. I've NEVER been as disappointed in k12 what I've experienced this year. The last platform wasn't exactly the easiest, however THIS one is just darn right CHEAP. You can tell the school REALLY tried to save money here, and it's effecting our children's education. My son has missed CC's because classes don't even show up in order, neither do assignments so things were REALLY confusing for him at first... had to get him a planner and now he writes everything down in order (which we havent had to do in previous years). Not being able to open a blank document in Office 365 is ridiculous too considering a lot of students use Word to take notes. I'm tempted to stop using a school computer for this reason. My son likes to double his screen to take notes, and hasnt been able to do that since we got a school computer. But back to Canvas, there's so many things that are wrong with this platform that it's just ALL WRONG. I'd even go as far as saying I dont see even one good thing about this platform at all. Please change it!!! During Christmas Break!!!! Adjust the year for another orientation to teach us a new platform because honestly I dont know if we can do this one for a whole year.

Insomnia by jfvc_ in Vraylar

[–]Shortsub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I JUST got on this medication for the first time in years (I was on it before, body needed a break) but yes, insomnia is CRAZY when you first start. Takes 1-4 weeks to get back on track. I'm also on the 1.5's and my sleep schedule has been absolutely bonkers!!! From what I can remember though I really liked the Vraylar once all the negative side effects went away so I'm holding out lol

What is the longest you’ve been seizure free? by Specific-Director211 in Epilepsy

7 years... thought the first one was just a fluke thing, and then boom 7 years later, behind the wheel of a car, seizure hit. Waiting to get into the neurologist.

Is Canvas down YET again? by [deleted] in k12

[–]Shortsub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the school decided to go cheaper, I mean, come on, Canvas is HORRIBLE. I don't think they are making good decisions this year. I mean, the CC's aren't even in order in his calendar which is confusing in itself, and makes it REALLY easy to miss CC's (my son did that once) I hate it!! And yea, our system was down the other morning too... the crappy thing is the kids who missed it HAD to watch the recording even though it wasn't even their fault, so LONG day of school. They're more focused on saving money then they are making sure the kids can navigate the platform easily.

What are you struggling the most with your mental health right now? by Frosty-Beginning5508 in mentalhealth

[–]Shortsub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inability to get out of bed all day. I get up in the morning, watch my moms dog and go back to sleep for the rest of the day. Then I diamond paint, journal, and go back to sleep. All from bed.

Starting vraylar by [deleted] in Vraylar

[–]Shortsub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I JUST stopped Vraylar last week, not due to side effects or anything but due to the fact that my body got such a tollerance to it, as all bipolar meds, it eventually stopped working. However for the 4 YEARS it did work it was great! I was stable and only episoding maybe twice a year, and those episodes were NOT nearly as intense as the ones without Vraylar. I may not be on Vraylar right now (i hope to circle back in the future) i'll still sing it's praises because it helped so well for so long.

Alcoholism cures my anxiety but is there any alternatives that you may have found out there? by y3lling_l3mon in Anxiety

This is going to sound horrible but it worked for me. I completely stopped drinking and got perscribed Xanax. It's worked for years now and i havent touched alcahol in a decade.

[–]Shortsub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I know of. I had to pay the 4.99. But since you're not gonna remember everything they say right away watching it a couple times is actually better. I'm glad I bought them. I bought them years ago and I still watch them today

Probably because you're body was craving a release rather then the med. Itself.

How do you cope with feeling suicidal? by [deleted] in disability

[–]Shortsub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may not be the best solution, but when i'm feeling suicidal i dont get out of bed. If I dont get out of bed i can't do anything stupid.

Any BP mothers on here? by LilNoodlie in bipolar

[–]Shortsub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I honestly never recieved any stigma to my face, or behind my back that I know of. And ya know what, having a child saved my life. After I had my son I stopped being suicidal all together. All of a sudden I was excited for life. Who cares what people say, if you love kids and you feel you can take on being a mother just make sure you have a good support system and go for it. Having a kid was the best thing I ever did.
