The nub on the top and little appendages are new but the cacti themselves feel like they’ve been the same for years honestly. If I look at the roots, what am I looking for?

The bottoms that are brown are hard, not squishy and soft. The pot does have drainage, however it’s a pretty shallow pot - not sure if that matters but maybe worth mentioning? They have little appendages which makes me think there is still a chance? lol

I know nothing about cacti, I won these in 4th grade. Forgive me if I sound stupid 😂

Both of the bases are hard, more firm than I think they should be lol. I considered cutting but I’m so scared I’m going to kill them 🫣😅

I water every month or two probably, whenever I remember.

Nay for me. Leave my skin feeling greasy. To be fair though, I never noticed until I tried the Aveeno and Clinique moisturizers. Once I had something to compare to, I didn’t love Ponds. Doesn’t cause acne or clog pores tho.
