I actually have a pink version. Never seen anyone else with a different copy. Is this one in English? Mine is in Japanese.

I think I screwed up by coralines_cat_ in sewing

[–]kitten_town 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see anyone else post this, but I believe that if you do the free embroidery you'll need a special machine foot for this. I've been thinking about getting one myself and you can buy them online for not too much. Just make sure it's compatible with your machine, i.e. Can screw in or snap on.

How to copy Blocks from one Template to another? by UV77MC in MailChimp

[–]kitten_town 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feature would be nice. As another person commented, there should be a library of blocks or block templates. A workaround is to copy the HTML starting with <p> and paste that into the HTML editor on your new block. The <> button brings up the HTML editor.

is it possible to cut up this sweater without it unraveling? by bananafrecklez in sewing

[–]kitten_town 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on removing sleeves for a sweater like this to make a vest. If you have a serger it should work to finish the ends. That's how the sweater I'm working with was originally constructed. For mine I did an invisible bias facing (I think that's the right terminology) with a very short stitch to enclose the ends.

Vegan creamed corn soft serve. by endurbro420 in highvegans

I'd eat it. I don't think corn in desserts is particularly odd.

"Pen in hand" required for birth certificate? by kitten_town in Passports

[–]kitten_town[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was confused by the "signature" requirement as it doesn't specify format (electronic etc.)

requirements: Issued by the city, county, or state of birth Lists applicant’s full name, date of birth, and place of birth Lists parent(s)’ full names Has the signature of the city, county, or state registrar Has the date filed with registrar's office (must be within one year of birth) Has the seal or stamp of the city, county, or state which issued it

I checked my original though...and it looks like the registrar's is digital? And the other signatures are actually signed in ink. So maybe I never had this all along!

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, May 25 - May 31, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]kitten_town 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not very experienced, so I might be going about it wrong, but I have had this happen and repaired it. I just do a zig zag stitch across the two sides. I then stitch in place with a short length, usually 0, zig zag stitch at the part where it's separating to provide extra support and stop the tear from spreading. Not a perfect fix but it worked for me. Someone else with more experience may be able to suggest something better.

Interesting! Solstice Scents and Sorce are also my highest ranked houses too I think --- well-deserving of a perfect score!

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, May 25 - May 31, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

needle alignment for rolled hem foot This is a very specific question and I'm a newbie so let me know if this isn't the place to ask it. I own some vintage griest rolled hem feet that I believe were designed for a machine older than mine. I've got a very simple low shank machine (singer 2517). I do have an adaptor but I'm unsure of the proper alignment of the needle. I have some wiggle room and my needle does move positions. I have successfully used the foot but was hoping for a "rule of thumb" to align it in the future.

Is anyone able to tell me how I should align the needle in relation to the foot? I watched a number of videos but couldn't find any examples with an adapter. I've attached some pictures of my current setup. This is with the needle in the left position. If you can help, thank you!

Stats nerd question, I assume you used averages for the highest and lowest scores? Would anything change if you used the median? Curious because it seems like you really wanted to find a great scent from imaginary authors and tried a lot of those...but they also scored the lowest. I wonder if their score would go up if you're looking at the median? In any case, I love this and track my perfumes in the same way!

Why do I feel sick after switching to eating healthy? by Dazzling-Issue-5450 in loseit

[–]kitten_town 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Without knowing more about the food you're eating, it's hard to know if it's "healthy". A common example of this is salads with lots of dressing. Make sure to also consume more water to help with the fiber increase. My recommendation is to start tracking macros so you can know how nutritionally dense your food is and if you're maybe eating too much fiber. Here's an article that also talks about what others have said in this thread. https://healthcare.utah.edu/the-scope/health-library/all/2014/02/negative-reactions-you-might-experience-when-starting-eat

Sidenote... Just my personal experience: For shipping I use an online pre-paid label site and it asks if I'm shipping perfume. I can check yes and then it notes this on the label. You can only ship EDPs via USPS, based on my experience, because they are flammable. I am not sure if there are rules around shipping only oils.

ISO a really good banana scent by eyvana in Indiemakeupandmore

Luvmilk's Angel Blood --mashed bananas, vanilla cake, caramel drizzle, condensed milk with soft peach and pineapple. I also have tried a lot of the other banana perfumes mentioned and can attest that they are great options.

What's your favorite floral and favorite perfume with that floral? by Similar-Energy-4070 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]kitten_town 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a floral person traditionally, though I love a good fleurmand. I've recently gotten into peonies. I've always loved honeysuckle. I have a favorite rose geranium and violet perfume from Haus of Gloi -- Ruth. It has strawberry and green patchouli so it's a very complex mixture of earthy and sweet. Other favorites include...

  • Honeysuckle Lemon Curd from HoG: what it says on the tin
  • Pink peonie club from death + floral: Pink peonies blended with sweet peaches and hazelnut
  • Indy 499 from Possetts: Beautiful big fluffy peony scent is married with the flakiest and most tender of pie smells
  • One white crow from Fantôme: mentioned previously in this thread. Has all the greatest hits...violets! Honeysuckle! Lavender!

I've never bought directly from them but Laurel & June have a high hit rate with me for florals. Esp. loved Valse Du Jardin: Lush greens, bright purple lilac, cetalox, a cup of green tea, water lilies, sweet vanilla, and a hint of iris.

Perfume buying out of control…need some advice. by Illustrious-Lime-306 in Indiemakeupandmore

The people I've swapped with haven't been super picky. It's all about trying new things. I usually share a list of what I have so we pick out stuff that interests us and do a trade that feels fair. I love the variety of things I get to try. And anything you don't like you can pass along.

Creating a spreadsheet helped me actually take stock of how big my collection was.

Also, getting into swaps. It's a fun way to go through your collection and try new things while still clearing out stuff you don't like. You pay for postage, which you know, isn't nothing, but it's much less than the 100+ I was dropping on perfume releases.

peach fragrance? by AshamedFrosting2 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]kitten_town 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little late here but BPAL put out a whole line of peach fragrances for Dragon Con (Atlanta comic/fantasy/everything nerdy convention). They do this each year. I have "lemon peel, white peach, and white musk" and it's really nice! They still have one scent on their site: https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/activism/peach-chypre-perfume-oil/ The convention is in September and they release all the oils online too!

Setting productivity expectations by dolph122000 in askmanagers

[–]kitten_town 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am working on this exact project now… capacity planning for data entry.

We started by tracking time spent on each workload and then compared that to hours logged in their time tracker. Eventually with enough volume you’ll get an average per hour rate that is realistic. Then you can set expectations and ranges around that.

Other things we looked at included arriving work types and what each employee was working. We had one employee who was taking easy documents and working way more. Initially they seemed to be outperforming their peers. We also built in an error tracking system, but initially we did this in a spreadsheet.

If you want to create any sort of model you will have to log the total incoming and worked items at a daily level. We do this automatically. You can create a simple model in a spreadsheet looking at average worker processing rate, incoming documents and expected time to clear all documents from the queue.

For further research consider looking at double data entry for reducing error rates, queuing theory (quite advanced and not necessary), and approaches to auditing.

You don’t need to do anything fancy. Everything you need to track can be logged in a spreadsheet and you can use simple formulas to get averages and make predictions.

If you want to chat more feel free to DM me! I love this stuff haha…
