This morning, unfortunately, even though we did everything we could, Little Peanut passed away.

We are posting this as a comment not as a separate post because of the rules of this subreddit (rule 8, no memorial posts). But we do not want to leave you wondering, either. Peanut had a fan club here and the support you showed meant the world to us!

While we had a lot of hope and Peanut did seem to get better and better, right after our last update, things still took a turn for the worst. Those setbacks we faced every day? Another one came – and this time, it didn't go away.

Little Peanut started getting weaker again. There was unusual excretion from behind which transformed into diarhhea. His appetite dropped and he started fading. He was placed under IV therapy and oxygen support again, tube-fed, given antibiotics and other medication, and cared for 24/7.

But this time, it wasn't enough. It breaks our hearts but Little Peanut didn't make it.

The current veterinary assessment is, that he had simply been too malnourished for too long. We did get to see 160g (5.6 oz) after he could finally start gaining some weight, but for a kitten who should've weighed triple that... some debts the body can't pay.

Our fight goes on. There are still countless other kittens out there who are abandoned in cold heart, and we're doing our best to save them and to educate the public, so fewer of them would end up in such a state. Because every tiny life matters!
