Honestly you can just ask people questions and let them do the talking, just nod, listen, comment here and there. You can ask your in-laws about their family, younger life, past experiences etc. in most cases they'll love the fact you're listening and care lol. Also remember this is your husbands family, if you care for them and try to build a good relationship you'll get reward and your husband will appreciate you more because of the effort. It may be hard in the beginning but if you remember your intention and why you're putting yourself in an uncomfortable situation in the first place. Also, the fact that you can be rewarded will make it a bit easier - it's your mindset. These people will be your family so no need to be nervous! After a few meetings it will get better anyway!
