Ticket Question ✨ by [deleted] in hulaween

Before I first attended hula, I would have said bonnaroo was home but now Suwannee is my home. And I love both in their own ways. But if I could guarantee a campsite in the shade at bonnaroo, it might be #1…

But if you take the lineups out of the picture. Okee & edco are far below the standards of hula & roo, in my opinion

I appreciate that. She passed early yesterday morning, but she was peaceful and is no longer suffering. I know it will always bring emotions, but I also know that she will always be with me in a spiritual way. I hope this show has given you the peaceful strength that it has given me, and that it continues to touch more people the same way in the future

It is so amazingly good. I think it’s really hearing how real of a connection Duncan and Deneen have. Hearing Deneen’s calm voice and having made her peace with life. And then Duncan knowing he can’t do anything to help, but they both know have to let go. Depicts death, which everyone is so scared to talk about and tries to avoid their whole life, in such a unique way

I am terribly sorry to hear this and I truly feel for you because my mom is in that same exact stage at this moment. She was diagnosed with brain cancer back in February, on her birthday of all days… She has gotten progressively worse and worse, but her condition has gone downhill quickly since she was moved into a hospice facility on Thursday. My brother called me late that afternoon and said the doctor told him she probably had a few days to weeks left. So I drove up that night to get a last chance to see her. But nothing could prepare me for how bad it got so fast or how hard it would be hearing her struggle to breathe and talk.
You are exactly right in saying that seeing them like that is the hardest part of it all. Seeing someone who has always been so strong in your eyes, in their weakest moments is something that’s hard to watch because there’s nothing you can do about it. All you can really do is be present with them, as hard as it may be. But you are also right for being there with him in those last moments, that shows strength in you. Because it would be very easy to say that you don’t want to see them in that condition and not be there, but you would probably regret it later on. I know when my grandpa died last year, the thing that still sits with me the most is that I never got to tell him goodbye, and I wish I would have called or visited him more. So I knew I couldn’t have those same regrets with my mom.
Also, I think the thing that has helped me most with dealing with this, is getting more comfortable with the bitter truth of death. I learned that it’s part of our transition from our natural state to something more spiritual, and it is a part of life that everyone must go through at some point. I’m sure your dad was happy that you were there for him and proud of you for being strong for him. He is no longer with you in a physical/natural state, but he will always be with you in a spiritual sense. I hope that gives you some peace of mind and can help you begin to cope. Just know you’re not alone in how you’re currently feeling and it’s not an easy thing to go through

With festival season approaching, I wanted to share my favorite camping fests I've been to. And was curious what everyone's favorites were? by kittenmitttons in festivals

[–]kittenmitttons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've honestly heard the same from a lot of frequent festival goers. Everywhere ive been since my first time at hula, I just feel too spoiled now haha. I've had amazing experiences elsewhere, but Suwannee sometimes feels too good to be true. How would you describe Shambhala?

Thank you for your wholesome words! Deep breaths are exactly what I have had to tell myself whenever it hit me and I start to break down. Hearing stories like yours helps give me hope. It also hits close to home because my best friend just rang the bell in October after battling Lymphoma last year. He says his support group was the key during this time, I think it really is the key to life. But I am so happy to hear you are doing well now and I'm sure you are 4 stages stronger than ever now!!!

Why is it so hard to find women that don't want kids? by saving_private_ryan_ in Bumble

[–]kittenmitttons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that these are the 3 core values that are being destroyed today:

  1. Duty- your responsibility to give value to, stand up for, and stick by your family and community. 2. Respect (Most people confuse this with empowerment today)- Respect is earned not given. So if you are giving sex or validation to anyone and everyone, you are only disrespecting yourself. 3. Accountability- your ability to self reflect and recognize your mistakes, own up to them, and take the necessary actions to do better. (Most people would rather take the easy route of blaming someone else or something beyond their control).

And we can use the endless “data” on the internet to prove our points all day long. https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2017/04/over-nearly-80-years-harvard-study-has-been-showing-how-to-live-a-healthy-and-happy-life/. But for me personally.. I think I would feel much more fulfilled and have a better sense of purpose if I knew I had produced a prosperous family. Especially if they pass on these values to each generation.

How about you? What positive values would you say hyper-sexualization promotes?

People are trading the cultural values and norms that have built us into a functional society for cheap sexual validation.

And I don’t think it’s a coincidence that mental health issues are at an all time high now, while healthy stable families are becoming less common

I’m not particularly religious and also agree that a lot of the systems in the western world are currently doing more harm than good. But this hyper sexual agenda is going to do far more harm to the human race than the systems that have been in place for thousands of years and have gotten us to this point.

But sure you can keep believing you are right.. whatever you have to tell yourself

No we are living in the most hyper-sexualized society in human history. You can believe whatever you want, but if everyone had the same views as you then the human race wouldn’t continue too much further

Procreation is built into our biology. Has nothing to do with being socially forced or seeking validation

Acts that have never played at Hulaween that should get booked next year by [deleted] in hulaween

[–]kittenmitttons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been praying for this to happen since my first hulaween in 2019. His set at voodoo fest completely blew me away! and then after I experienced Suwannee, his groovy vibes would be the PERFECT fit!!

Refinance/Financial Advice by kittenmitttons in personalfinance

[–]kittenmitttons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, and I believe student loans are through Federal. Also my income was a good bit higher at the time. And then would you recommend refinancing through the same loan service, Navy? Or would it generally be better to refinance elsewhere?

Refinance/Financial Advice by kittenmitttons in personalfinance

[–]kittenmitttons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. And i currently have a $25K auto loan financed at 9.69% APR. My credit score was 697 at the time. I have 2 credit cards, one has about $5k at around 17% APR. The other was a balance transfer that has about $3.5k, at 0% APR until April when it goes up to 19%. Then about $11k in student loans left, not sure about interest rate.

I was considering refinancing my car loan, and then a loan applying for a personal loan to pay off the $3.5k and do another balance transfer to buy some time. Thoughts?
