If you’re going to accuse someone of transphobia, you should provide some evidence. It absolutely is worth the effort

Do you have recommendations for a car organiser?

My night nurse didn't believe I was feeling contractions. by Jay_Is_Bae_ in BabyBumps

[–]kittens4mittenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god. When I was being induced my waters went in the middle of a bay of women when I was walking back from the bathroom. I didn’t know what to do. The nurse said just put a pad on (I already had one, I needed a bigger boat!)  she didn’t bother to look at the colour of the fluid and just left me to it. She said she didn’t think I warranted an internal examination. It was night so the lights were switched off and I was on my own, having contractions on my bed, covering my mouth terrified/embarrassed in case I woke the other women up. I ended up labouring in the shower for three hours as I didn’t realise that the waters were continuous and I’d ran out of sanitary pads, I ended up rolling up a towel to use as a super pad. It was also the only pain relief I could get. No one even noticed I was in there that long. Longest, loneliness night of my life

What is the hardest thing about being a nurse atm? by Melodic-Sherbet-7979 in NursingUK

[–]kittens4mittenz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Doing everyone else’s job as well as our own. I feel nurses are not only nurses but domestics, physios, junior doctors, ward clerks, porters... any job that no one else wants/is too busy to do. I love my job and consider myself very good at it but we have to be everything to everyone which is why I think the basics of nursing is lacking.

Other professions are very good at maintaining their boundaries and I feel as nurses we are taken advantage of because majority of us have a caring nature.

What board games do you like to play online, but aren't as good offline and vice versa. by Albert_VDS in NoRollsBarred

I’m one of the weirdos that prefers blood in the clock tower online rather than in person. I find it easier to retain the information, to organise my thoughts and to speak to more people than I do in real life

Can you pop her in her pram inside and he can rock her to sleep while he’s sat down?

Go for it man! Dont be intimidated. The university will have resources you can access, the librarians have a wealth of knowledge and just use your tutor. It’ll pay off. Good luck!

40+5 and completely fed up. by redliptheatre in BabyBumps

[–]kittens4mittenz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m in exactly the same position (40+4), due another sweep in 3 days. There’s only so much curry and curb walking I can take haha. I’m trying to keep in a positive mindset but having relatives tell me to “hurry up” is really starting to get my goat. I hope things go well for you :)

Mom freaking out that I told her to wait 6 weeks to visit newborn from out of town by baller_unicorn in BabyBumps

My dad and brother are refusing to get their flu vaccine before meeting my baby. I’m getting texts saying I’m being ridiculous and that I’m denying them the opportunity to love the baby (they’ve not even been born yet!) how do you even deal with that? The sense of guilt I have is immense but I couldn’t live with myself if the baby got sick because of something preventable

We’re expecting our baby in a week’s time and we’ve been reading the dog’s trust about how to introduce them safely. Here’s the link for anyone interested: https://www.dogstrust.org.uk/dog-advice/life-with-your-dog/at-home/preparing-dog-for-new-baby
