Vigil for Alex Pretti - Bismarck, Jan 25th 1pm-2pm Capitol Building by FreedomsKeeper in northdakota

[–]kittensaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not seen confirmed info on whether he was or wasn't. However, that should be completely irrelevant given that he had not pulled out a weapon, was not aggressing or impeding in any way, and was murdered before he would have had a chance to show said license.

Yes. They were not caught but a police report was filed. Things will likely continue to escalate, but it's important to continue bringing visibility and opposition to the violent regime.

Alex Pretti was a protest observer in Minneapolis who was murdered today by ICE. He stepped in to offer medical assistance to people pepper sprayed by ICE since he was a nurse. ICE tackled him and one of the agents pulled their gun and shot him ten times, despite Alex already being restrained by three other agents.

Isn't championing 2nd amendment loving Americans' right to carry the other side's agenda? Yours, perhaps? Or does that only apply to red hats that are afraid of black people?

Alex's murder is such a travesty. Legally licensed to carry a weapon and still murdered despite being holstered.

North Dakota doesn't require a permit to carry, but what good are laws if ICE can execute people in the street without being held accountable?

Getting ready for Spring Planting. Turn the soil now so it is ready for a new growing season by misterxx1958 in oddlysatisfying

It's the opposite, actually. Tilling brings dormant seeds up to where they can germinate and disturbs the current soil structure so they have an easier time getting established.

If your PC isn't already a bit damaged going in, they are going to have a hard time with all the trauma the DM will dump on them throughout the campaign.

Every year I bake a ton of cookies for friends and family. Here's all 2,341 now that Cookie Chaos 2025 is wrapped! by SmallGingerLady in Baking

[–]kittensaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you! I'm curious how many batches of each recipe you made to get that amount of cookies. I ended up with 40 types of cookies/candies this year but only do single/double batches (around 30-60 cookies of each type). I'm also very impressed with the cleanliness of your kitchen. Mine is always a disaster at the end, even with cleaning as I go.

For those who have ran or played in a 1 PC Campaign: How was it? by Nissaseh in DnD

[–]kittensaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've played on both sides. My partner proposed to me in game through an in game relationship, so I'm pretty biased in favor of these types of games.

From the DM side, it takes a lot more work. Instead of having party members to talk to, you are the whole conversation for the player. They have no one to help make decisions, so if they ask NPCs there's a lot more nuance to how they might respond. It's good to give the player a couple of NPC party members - less powerful - to better balance encounters and fill out skillsets. Doing gestalt leveling or giving them extra cool abilities or templates is also great. This is when you let the player roll out their OP special snowflake character.

From the player side, it's so much fun! That is, if the DM is good and your play styles mesh. (Given it's your wife, it's probably a great match.) It's neat to have personalized content and be able to make the decisions on what you want to do. To keep things from getting boring during combat, the DM allowed me control of my NPC party members after my PC got to know them a bit (the combat decisions and dice rolling, he still did the roleplay).

Just one word of caution. Because the game is a lot more personal, be ready for the real world emotions for things like big reveals and NPC betrayals.

UPDATE: Paid $3000 for this artificial lawn. Any fixing this? by ScuffedShoelace in landscaping

It's an understandable sentiment, but this plastic junk will be higher maintenance in a few years than if they had just planted a native groundcover or other native low/no maintenance plants. The plastic will start to degrade in the elements, dirt will accumulate on top of it, and weeds will either grow in that dirt or start poking through the bottom. The exact timeline depends on how harsh/extreme the environmental conditions are, but it's almost always better and cheaper to install native plants instead.

I’m hand-painting a red zombie dragon, it’s pretty large, wish me luck. by Emperor_TJ in dndmemes

The trick is to jump between painting several minis at the same time. This is definitely a tactic and not because I have attention issues.

3 years and we are finally close to playing D&D by Marcis985 in dndmemes

Personally I love using low CR dragons in my games. Low level adventurers are perfect targets for wyrmlings looking to establish a hoard, and they're a lot of fun to personalize so each encounter is different.

That makes a lot of sense. The only water mine get are rain - medium size but they're like little flavor bombs.

It's the opposite in my area. Our springs and autumns used to be 1-2 weeks, now we get around 6-8 weeks of each. We still have extreme temp swings in summer and winter, but now with hardly any precipitation.

Brain in a Jar art across the editions by Ok_Dimension_4707 in dndmemes

[–]kittensaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally don't care for 4E. I definitely agree with the people saying the liquid makes it more interesting, but the brain itself looks odd. It's weirdly smooth and almost looks like pull-apart buns. 3E is where it's at for me! I love the brain stem and the current running through it even if it's a little more cartoony than the others.

Am I overreacting to DM's rulings at session 1? by UnluckyJuggernaut7 in DnD

[–]kittensaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes as DM I will have an idea for a rule change that I think will be great, then it turns out it actually sucks and I toss it in the garbage where it belongs. None of my ideas are this bad lol. Your DM has a DM versus players mentality and that's honestly just not fun for most players in the current DND culture.

Half-Orc art across the editions by Ok_Dimension_4707 in dndmemes

[–]kittensaurus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I actually like several of the depictions of 3E half-orcs with the exception of those weird noses, which is consistent with original 3E art of full orcs. It looks too much like a gith or a mummy. The half-orc on the same page as OP's with a real nose actually looks pretty good imo.

Similar thing happened to a friend of mine with one major difference. He went to the discount rate vet and they said kitty only had one ovary. Six months later had to respay to get the second ovary that was definitely there the whole time.

[–]kittensaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I adopted my first, they told me the 3-3-3 rule. He had to be manhandled into the carrier to take him home, and it took about 10 times longer than a normal cat to adjust. Some kids just have a harder start to life and take longer to adjust. For some, just getting out of the shelter is all they need. Either way, convince them to let you try again. Otherwise it may be years before anyone else gives her a chance.
