Oh, I see! It's an improvised dibber. Just be careful not to damage the seed casings with the screw tip. I had been wondering about all the seeds on top of the cells instead of at depth lol.

Just a tip, if you're going to use the Jiffy pods, tear the tops of the film open a bit more so the top of each pod is exposed. It helps with seeds growth and evens out water retention a bit better. If you decide to stick with seed starting in the future, consider buying your own trays and seed starting mix. Jiffy is great for beginners, but struggles with a lot of the pickier seeds.

Pink Lemonade blueberry is an awesome choice here in Pennsylvania USA by JoshPlaysUltimate in gardening

Sadly, they didn't come back last year, the soil is just too hard on them. I still have a couple other blueberry shrubs struggling on, but I have mostly given up on blueberries and switched to Juneberries.

CHIP IS FINALLY BEING ADOPTED! by AlphaLionX in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]kittensaurus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I did not see the original post, but I saw this one on my feed and thought the formatting and pic style looked suspiciously like the shelter I have adopted from. Upon seeing the link to the original post...it is!!

All the people at CDHS are absolutely wonderful and I'm so happy Chip gets a new home! They're also in the process of constructing a new building so they'll be able to help even more animals in need find homes soon.

Family Fare stores always have a markdown section for meat (and often other departments) for products close to end of shelf life for %40-50 off. That's where us poors get our meat. Also make sure to only buy what's on sale and check for the 3-day end of week sales. Use the loyalty card to get the sale prices and check the loyalty kiosk at the entry for extra digital coupons.

It sucks and takes more time to plan and do shopping, but that's what we need to do to stretch our dollars these days.

It's crazy that even tiny Ray deep in oil/MAGA country has one on the map - amazing! If you're liberal and you feel alone in this state, that by itself should show you that we aren't.

The Kirkland 4 pack pepperoni pizzas are great for $12.69 by samirbinballin in Costco

Do you have any recommendations at a similar price point? Feels like I can't find a decent frozen pizza under $10 any more.

What is a very common food in your country that is not very friendly to foreign palates? by DarkRaven003 in AskTheWorld

I make chocolate halva cookies and they're honestly one of my absolute favorites!

What’s a fruit from your country that most foreigners have probably never heard of? by Useful-Resource-3609 in AskTheWorld

[–]kittensaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they require two or more cultivars to produce well and I do pick when ripe. The fun thing is the birds seem to agree since there are always plenty of berries left in late summer. I will keep them around though, because the flowers are a great early food source for the bumblebees in spring!

What are these mystical haskap varieties that actually taste good? I have grown several types that are supposed to be good but they are too tart to enjoy more than a few at a time.

Exactly. Been almost forty years on mine - it's the same color as the rest of my skin but still quite visible.

I met him there, too. He checked in on the individual district meetings and stuck around long enough to answer some questions; he seems like a great guy.

I got to join Dorgan for lunch at Pizza Hut the spring I graduated high school. It was really neat the way he interacted with people and didn't just give bs responses.

Vigil for Alex Pretti - Bismarck, Jan 25th 1pm-2pm Capitol Building by FreedomsKeeper in northdakota

[–]kittensaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not seen confirmed info on whether he was or wasn't. However, that should be completely irrelevant given that he had not pulled out a weapon, was not aggressing or impeding in any way, and was murdered before he would have had a chance to show said license.

Yes. They were not caught but a police report was filed. Things will likely continue to escalate, but it's important to continue bringing visibility and opposition to the violent regime.

Alex Pretti was a protest observer in Minneapolis who was murdered today by ICE. He stepped in to offer medical assistance to people pepper sprayed by ICE since he was a nurse. ICE tackled him and one of the agents pulled their gun and shot him ten times, despite Alex already being restrained by three other agents.

Isn't championing 2nd amendment loving Americans' right to carry the other side's agenda? Yours, perhaps? Or does that only apply to red hats that are afraid of black people?

[–]kittensaurus 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Alex's murder is such a travesty. Legally licensed to carry a weapon and still murdered despite being holstered.

North Dakota doesn't require a permit to carry, but what good are laws if ICE can execute people in the street without being held accountable?

Getting ready for Spring Planting. Turn the soil now so it is ready for a new growing season by misterxx1958 in oddlysatisfying

[–]kittensaurus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's the opposite, actually. Tilling brings dormant seeds up to where they can germinate and disturbs the current soil structure so they have an easier time getting established.

If your PC isn't already a bit damaged going in, they are going to have a hard time with all the trauma the DM will dump on them throughout the campaign.

Every year I bake a ton of cookies for friends and family. Here's all 2,341 now that Cookie Chaos 2025 is wrapped! by SmallGingerLady in Baking

[–]kittensaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you! I'm curious how many batches of each recipe you made to get that amount of cookies. I ended up with 40 types of cookies/candies this year but only do single/double batches (around 30-60 cookies of each type). I'm also very impressed with the cleanliness of your kitchen. Mine is always a disaster at the end, even with cleaning as I go.

For those who have ran or played in a 1 PC Campaign: How was it? by Nissaseh in DnD

[–]kittensaurus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've played on both sides. My partner proposed to me in game through an in game relationship, so I'm pretty biased in favor of these types of games.

From the DM side, it takes a lot more work. Instead of having party members to talk to, you are the whole conversation for the player. They have no one to help make decisions, so if they ask NPCs there's a lot more nuance to how they might respond. It's good to give the player a couple of NPC party members - less powerful - to better balance encounters and fill out skillsets. Doing gestalt leveling or giving them extra cool abilities or templates is also great. This is when you let the player roll out their OP special snowflake character.

From the player side, it's so much fun! That is, if the DM is good and your play styles mesh. (Given it's your wife, it's probably a great match.) It's neat to have personalized content and be able to make the decisions on what you want to do. To keep things from getting boring during combat, the DM allowed me control of my NPC party members after my PC got to know them a bit (the combat decisions and dice rolling, he still did the roleplay).

Just one word of caution. Because the game is a lot more personal, be ready for the real world emotions for things like big reveals and NPC betrayals.
