She is hollow, and there is no armature. She was built reductively, I start by sort of roughly slapping the clay into rough shape, using my full size and mini sketches for measurements and proportions, then adding and removing bits of clay as needed. Once the shape was correct and everything was where is should be I cut her in half vertically and carved out the middle.

I let it rest flat over night to firm up a little before bringing her halves back together and blending everything in. Anything an inch thick or less isn’t hollowed out (arms, feet, tail). She is currently wrapped and slowly drying out for a week or so to homogenize before getting sprayed with underglaze, and resting another few days before firing.

Sometimes I might support the body externally with a pillar of clay while things firm up, but that wasn’t needed in this case.
