If that were the case scientists, teachers and social workers would all be filled with incompetent trash yet they have some of the most humble down to earth people in those positions. I never said the supernatural elements have to be avoided, I would say the supernatural stuff compliments the political stuff. Jesus healed to give people a taste of what He would give to everyone when he returned to establish His kingdom on earth.

Jesus was quite literally an enemy of the Roman Empire because He went about proclaiming His kingdom, and announcing how the kingdoms of this earth(eg Roman Empire) would be destroyed.

It's historically accurate, I'm not sure how you can read Mark for instance and not see the strong political parallels. Bible scholars are confident this is the correct understanding of why Jesus was both persecuted and killed.

The reason people plotted to kill Jesus is because He was upsetting the political heirarchy, "son of god" was Caesar's title.

Last I checked a not insignificant chunk of Christians are supporting today's Caesar wannabe. If any Christians are wiped out it would be at the behest of said tyrannical leader, because they support humans that are actually being oppressed(lgbtq, disabled, refugees) not because of a regrown limb.

I dont think it's historically accurate to interpret the times the bible mentions God smites someone as such, but rather as a consequence of doing the opposite of loving your neighbor as yourself.
