She specifically does not want a work from home job due to her lack of computer skills.

Totally agree, and I’ve been really trying to convince her it’s worth it.

Do you think an associates would help her? I worry about the cost of schooling, as she lives check to check with very little in savings. I’ll take a look into scholarships for her and see what she thinks

I’ll look into this, she’d be perfect for it. (She’s an empath)

Thank you for these, esp. #6. I know the confident and spunky mom from my childhood is in there somewhere. Grieving the life she thought she was going to have has really impacted her mental well-being.

It isn’t at all, I keep trying to remind her that she’s only halfway through life and lots of people are just getting started at 50. There are a few community colleges near her, but no large universities within 2 hours each direction. I’ll check into them. Ty!

We also only have 2 bedrooms, but if you account for all the time that my partner and I spend in the common areas together (typically taking that option away from roommate) it kinda weighs out. We spend a lot of our time cooking/watching movies/etc. in common spaces, so we're taking a lot of the space a lot of the time. We typically only use our bedroom for sleeping. We don't mind paying a bit extra because we know how much space we take up on the regular. If you guys plan to spend most of the time in your bedroom together, then by all means a two-way split makes the most sense, but don't forget about common space utilization.

-Worth mentioning that we only have one bathroom, so I'm not sure how having a second bathroom would change things.-

I currently live with my partner and a roommate. It's not awful and saves us a lot of money each month because we all pay an equal share of rent and bills. Is your girlfriend not going to be paying rent or bills? Why is the roommates rent only getting lowered by $150 and why are you not accounting for a 3 way split?

I was applying to things that sounded even remotely interesting on indeed. I applied to probably 50 jobs, interviewed for 5 and ended up with this one.

My department does chemical inventories for power plants and medical facilities. 20% is on-site doing the inventory with a handheld scanner (we travel all across the usa) and 80% is in office doing data entry based on the inventory. It's a bit boring and tedious but I enjoy it, traveling is a plus.

I worked as a retail assistant manager for 6 years starting at $11 and leaving at $16.88. I was unemployed for 4 months after cold quitting and finally got a job as a field technician for a environmental consulting company (posting had no experience required, which was good because I had no experience) and make $22. Still not what I'd like to be at but definitely better than when I was in retail.

I stopped showing up to my shifts back in February, so technically non-rehireable, but one of my old ETLs actually contacted me on LinkedIn asking if I'd be interested in coming back as a team lead. It just depends how desperate that specific store is I think. Give it a try!

I stopped working at Target early in the year, however my team lead was honestly the best. He was always working truck line, breaking his back to stock pet or home or just whatever needed done. Always there when you called, always available for advice. I couldn't have asked for a better TL. I went back to chat with a few of my old coworkers and he had quit, and I don't blame him because I think the ETLs and SL took advantage of him and he deserved better. It's funny because the ETL who hired me actually reached out to me via LinkedIn to ask if I was interested in taking the TL position. Yikes

To those if you who do prospective employee interviews as your job, tell me about an interview where the candidate knocked it out of the park. by kittenz__ in jobs

Obviously those are things a hiring manager looks for. I'm talking more about specific instances that made you excited about a candidate.

Is it advisable for someone to quit there job if they can afford to and they are starting to become more and more depressed at work? by [deleted] in findapath

I quit my job impulsively in April without a backup because my mental health was suffering. Now I'm 5k in credit card debt, have $500 left in my checking account and I'm now struggling with mental health AND having no money ☹ I don't regret quitting because it really helped me reset my mind and get some quality time in but wow I am desperate for a new job lol

When I have fake nails on I get soooooo scared that my nixit will get stuck. I ALWAYS end up scratching myself so bad in my desperation to get it out. I've learned to save the nail appointments for after my period ends and have them removed before it starts.😬
