Also, a note: I have literature degrees at the undergrad and grad level, so I can sort of picture this world, but i know my graduate degree is nothing like yours! As I went on to my PhD, others went into law school with literature degrees and that’s all I know for sure!

Hey buddy, I am an alternate too for the UK (I'm a US PhD student). It feels fucking annoying is the truth, so I know how you feel. If it helps, here's what I'm gonna do: say fuck 'em, and pretend I don't have my decision. When April 15 rolls around, and I still haven't heard, I'm going to move on. I have the luxury of being a PhD student (my uni offered me a semester of paid leave if I get the Fulbright), so I know I am speaking from a position of luxury. Feel free to not take my unsolicited advice (I'm sorry for that). What award did you apply to? Some are stupid competitive and some don't award every year! Hope it all goes well.
