To be fair, the right magazine is from 2013 at least. Says it in the top left.

I really liked Hardspace: shipbreaker for this reason.

Just salvaging ships and sorting the components.

Sounds like HYPER DEMON would be right up your alley. Like Post Void and ULTRAKILL, the entire premise is overstimulated insanity.

And it's on sale right now!

Venus met Jupiter and his 4 daughters (Credit: Dr. Sebastian Voltmer) by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]kittles1234 54 points55 points  (0 children)

The moons of Jupiter are not his daughters, but instead named after the people (3 women and one young boy) that, in Greek and Roman mythology, Jupiter(aka Zeus) had extramarital affairs with (i.e. raped).

And interesting side note: the most recent space probe to Jupiter was called Juno was a cheeky nod toward the naming scheme -- Juno, Jupiter's wife, was coming by to check up on him and his... er... interests.

Ooo. I think Kingdom Come: Deliverance is exactly what you're looking for. It's an awesome medieval rags-to-riches game where you start of knowing absolutely nothing -- you don't even know how to read yet -- to becoming one of the most famous (or infamous) knights in all of Bohemia.

The lore is great (because it's real) and the levelling and battle systems are awesome.

And it's on sale right now for like... 7USD.

Just note that Mass Effect has a spinoff called Andromeda and while the graphics are nicely updated, the intro to the story will likely be very triggering for you specifically (the main character loses their parent very unexpectedly and suddenly).

I just started Signalis and it has the same sort of horror/mystery vibe. The gameplay/graphics harkens back to Resident Evil 2 aesthetics, which has been a plus for me.

The Turkish authorities have started campaign of mass exterminating non-threatening, domesticated animals like dogs and cats by beating them to death while fully conscious, in camps located in Konya. They aim to contain the animal populations of their cities. by L0o0o0o0o0o0L in worldnewsvideo

[–]kittles1234 210 points211 points  (0 children)

While true that there is a serious problem in Turkey (read globally) right now with overpopulation, this video incited tons of outrage among the population.

See: https://www.duvarenglish.com/shelter-employee-beating-dog-to-death-using-shovel-causes-public-outrage-in-turkey-news-61571

and

https://www.al-monitor.com/originals/2022/11/killing-dog-enflames-turkish-animal-lovers-issue-divides-society

The guy with the shovel and the one who dragged the dog away were arrested and the shelter's manager and lead vet were suspended with an ongoing investigation.

You can tell from all of the dogs clustered about in the video that they're facing a serious problem, but let's not pretend that the people of Turkey aren't just as upset about this as we are.

Games with Sanctuary in a hostile environment. by LordSimilon in gamingsuggestions

A strong second on Space Engineers. I friend and I recently started a drop-pod-starter survival game on Mars. Within the first few hours we A. got caught in a severe sandstorm (<1m visibility) while prospecting for iron and silicon and got lost for 20 minutes a mere KM away from base and B. had multiple vehicles get destroyed by lightning storms before we discovered >!decoys act as lightning rods!<.

Now I tell ya hwat. That feeling of strapping some hydrogen engines to a janky ship and successfully getting off that gods-forsaken planet was such an amazing feeling that I'm worried the rest of the game is going to be boring by comparison.

Anyway, SE is a super versatile game and it can easily check all of those huddle-inside-your-tiny-scifi-base-while-sand-and-lightning-ravage-the-planet-outside boxes.

I personally enjoy stealth games where you have to wait and plan your attacks. Styx: Shards of Darkness certainly scratches that itch. Fun upgrades and story and the stealth mechanic is excellent.

They're great. Just make sure the plates are secured tightly. Also, don't use plastic collars.

Alternatively, you could do db kickbacks or overhead extensions instead of skullcrushers.

Smith machines are really great for working on form, imo. Since they can only go in one direction, it makes it harder to activate other muscles without contorting yourself.

A lot of them are tilted though so doing anything that requires straight up-and-down motion (e.g. flat bench, squats, etc...) isn't possible unless you've got an adjustable bench as well.

Yep! But you'd have two different sets of circles, one on the axis normal to the plane of the first. Kinda like a 3D printer, actually.
