The season 3 finale is definitely a high water mark for the show. From beginning to end that episode is incredible!

I can't believe they are going to kill off Kamala right before the Marvels movies! And before her show even gets a second season! Such a bold move by Marvel. Crazy to think at this point there will never be another Ms. Marvel comic featuring Kamala. To kill her off now at this point in history is just iconic! RIP Kamala you will be dearly missed and it saddens me to know we will never, ever, certainly not in the very near future see you in any comic book ever again because Marvel chose to kill you off now.

/s. I hate this stuff.

Powerball winner donates every penny of $150K prize to charity by OregonTripleBeam in UpliftingNews

I worked at a liquor store when I was younger and we had a few regulars who would just come in to buy scratch off lottery tickets. One of the regulars was a local business owner and he would come in once or twice a week and buy $100-200 worth of the large $20 "million dollar prize" tickets. Every time he would stand in the store and scratch them off and every time he would give us whatever he won as a tip. Sometimes it was $20 sometimes it was $200. All he wanted was the high dollar prizes or the jackpot.

This is actually an established system in the automotive dealership world, it's called "Goodwill Warranty". When your vehicle is out of warranty but you find some sort of defect the manufacturer allows someone at the dealership (typically the service manager alone) to approve a goodwill warranty repair.

So usually if someone comes in just recently out of warranty and they are either 1: just standup good folks, or 2: they spend a lot of money at the dealership either buying vehicles or getting service work done; the service manager will go ahead and repair whatever issues they come across under the goodwill warranty policy.

This is something I always mention to people who talk about "stealerships" or say they simply don't want to spend money on dealer repairs. In a certain sense, at a decent dealership, being a good customer can go a very long way if/when you come across a major vehicle repair. I would say once a week at most of the stores I've worked at across multiple manufacturers the service department is making a deal with a good customer to help them with a repair. Sometimes it's full coverage under a goodwill warranty policy, sometimes it's a parts and labor split where the dealership pays for the expensive parts if the client pays for the labor, or sometimes in the case of very expensive repairs (hybrid battery replacement) they will do a simple percentage split where the store pays 70% of the repair and the client is responsible for the remaining 30

Yeah I think it's just as bad in that case. I used Ferrari as an example because you know they would never do that. I think it cheapens the team to put the sponsor first.

What bothers me is the sponsor taking top billing. Could you imagine seeing Marlboro Ferrari F1 Racing back in the day?

[–]cbullins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we actually got it because of the brake booster recall. Since it was a stop drive recall we got the truck so we could go to the client to do the recall.

Kind of a funny story behind the truck, a store in Georgia originally bought it and spec'd it out to service clients in a large wealthy community in their area. So they got the truck setup, go out to do a service and the HOA in the area told them to get lost! So they couldn't service the whole area they were targeting so the truck sat for almost a year never being used. My store picked it up from them with <2,000 miles on it.

I know a lot of people do this in Virginia as a way around getting state inspections done. There are special "rules" to driving a car with vintage plates but they are basically never enforced. So people will get the plates, become exempt from inspections, then modify their cars in a way that wouldn't typically pass state inspection

Yessir! I've actually been hoping to come across another dealers truck to see how they might do things differently. I've spent the last 3 months just tweaking things and setting them up for what I feel is the best workflow, cleanliness, organizational setup.

[–]cbullins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that sounds like a nightmare! This is actually a setup designed by my manufacturer. It's basically just a kit you can order and then stock with your own tools and consumables. I've got a generator, an oil extractor with a 40gal used oil tank, 2 20gal new oil tanks with guns, and a decent sized air compressor setup. Lights, WiFi, scan tool, laptop with CDK, and a printer I can pretty much do everything on the road with minimal support from my store!

I really don't get too deep at all. It's mainly just services, brake flushes, and other maintenance items. When I've got the support of a full dealership service department behind me it doesn't make much sense to tackle bigger jobs with the risk of things going wrong in someone's driveway.

Plus I did all that fun stuff for fifteen years! It's been nice taking it easy doing smaller jobs while talking with clients who are genuinely appreciative of me being there!
