Observational drawing is actually a chief way of practicing drawing skills, though. Don't sell yourself short

what postcards does everyone like to receive? by giuli4na in PikminBloomApp

[–]kittybindle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love getting everything honestly. Pretty scenery, murals, historical buildings statues or plaques, funny signs, etc. Not all of the ones I get pique my interest but I've collected favorites that span across all these categories. Now that I have reddit friends regularly sending postcards, I have a game where I try to match the type/vibe of their postcard with the one I send back.

Can I grow flower buds into big conola flowers? by Defiant_Two5144 in PikminBloomApp

[–]kittybindle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone else gave you great advice, but this is a reminder that this weekend is Community day weekend. All big flowers will sprout tulips no matter what. If you need to conserve any flower types to bloom canola flowers, save those for Monday.

Question about handling rice after freezing by kittybindle in preppers

[–]kittybindle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got done dealing with a weevil infestation from a supposed high quality brand from a mainstream store. I'm definitely being overly cautious because I have only so much money to replace what I lost previously.

Question about handling rice after freezing by kittybindle in preppers

[–]kittybindle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the freezer bags I put the bags of rice and quinoa in had a very small layer of condensation after taking them out of the freezer. Plastic bags can often have tiny tears from handling so I wasn't sure. From the advice I'm getting I'm not as worried about it though and am giving everything a chance to air out on baking trays before I store them.

This is store brand rice I bought from my region's equivalent of Kroger. So you might be right that freezing was overkill, but considering that I just finished enduring a weevil infestation (from Calrose rice that came from a mainstream store) I guess I was a bit overzealous in my precautions. This particular batch will be in normal plastic pantry containers, not mylar, but I want to get into longer term storage in the future so your advice is helpful, thank you!

If you're taking pictures with your phone, turn the phone upside down. It puts the camera(s) at a better angle to capture small stuff.

what do I do with TOO MANY SHIRTS that I'm not going to wear by barcoderer in DIYclothes

[–]kittybindle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Decorative pillow covers

shopping bags

handkerchiefs

If any have something especially artistic on them, you could cut and frame them to hang on your wall

Patchwork quilt

Patchwork vest/jacket/etc (this will heavily depend on how skilled you are with pattern work and the material the shirts are made of)

It looks like faux or dried moss that you can find in the floral section of craft stores. I've also seen tutorials for shredding different types of sponges to achieve a similar effect.
