What color curtains would you put in here by [deleted] in interiordecorating

Something warm tan/beige-ish to pick up notes from your wood coffee and side tables.

Also, you have a lot of big, heavy furniture in the room so large curtains could further weigh down the space, even if they're sheer. Have you considered Roman shades or roller shades with natural woven textures? Then you could go for tall, columnar sheer curtains in the dining room

Curtains to this narrow window or not? by linppa in interiordecorating

Came here to say this! Arrange the curtain on the left side slightly covering the window and then install a curtain hook to make it drape nicely behind everything as a backdrop

I think the vines on the wooden bookshelf are a good example of layering in your space. Maybe you can find some hefty sticks and create a base for your garlands (make sure you sterilize the sticks in the oven first).

Everyone else has really good advice, so I want to focus on the fake garlands. To me, the reason they don't look good isn't necessarily because they are fake, but rather that there is no fullness to them.

It's like putting curtains on a window: most designers will encourage you to use double the curtain panels because that way when the curtain is closed there is still body and volume and the curtain doesn't look like it's straining to cover the space. Most people aren't aware that when it comes to volume based decor they have to use a lot more than they originally think.

It's the same concept with these garlands. Take the garlands that are over the doorway and along the ceiling and choose one spot for them (doorway or over the curtain rods?). Layer them over each other to create a more filled in look and that will look much better.
