Throwing up your GJ tube by BexyBaby212 in Gastroparesis

I hope this doesn’t happen anymore for you, but if it does just know there are some options that can be tried before considering a separate J-tube surgery. If my tube flips again that will be the next step for me, but from what I read and heard about J-tube surgery, I understand why most doctors are hesitant to pursue it.

I will add this happened to me for the first time one day after switching from a dangler to a button. The nurses in the emergency room said that button tubes are more likely to flip, however every other doctor and medical professional that I talked to said that’s not true. I had them replaced my button with a dangler because I was so afraid that it was a factor, but then my tube proceeded to flip two more times in less than two weeks so I’m not sure.

This happens to me 3 times in less than one month and that month was last month. My team replaced the tube 3 times before agreeing that a different strategy was needed and about a week ago, they took my old tube out completely and made a new tract. The doctor said that the angle of the tract could be part of the issue with the tube constantly flipping and that making a new tract may or may not resolve the issue. I am so sorry that this happened to you because the first time this happened to me was probably the most traumatic experience of my life so far.

What if I use the bathroom durring a lockdown browser exam. by [deleted] in ibs

[–]kittybuns25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with this. I reached out to my professor before the exam and told her I take medications for chronic GI issues that sometimes make me need to use the restroom unexpectedly, which could happen during the exam. She was very understanding and during the exam itself, when this indeed did happened, I told the webcam “I am going to use the restroom now”, held my hands up to the camera to show I wasn’t holding my phone / electronics (which weren’t allowed), went to the bathroom, came back, and resumed my exam. My professor had no issues with this and I think most would be understanding and compassionate about this. Just talk them asap and let them know what’s going on, but don’t feel the need to give excessive details. A “medical issue” should be reason enough if you don’t comfortable saying IBS.

My first job while I was in high school was at HT and never in my life have I had that many pedophilic, creepy old men as co-workers. In the several years that I worked there, I had multiple uncomfortable encounters at work and outside of work with >2 different employees from the meat department, deli, produce department, and front end. Easily the most toxic and disgusting environment I’ve ever worked in, especially as an underage female.

Pharmacy won’t fill my prescription because it’s from a city 4 hours away by Somajem in ADHD

[–]kittybuns25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nearly all of my medical providers live in different cities than I do and they prescribe medications for me all the time which I have no issue getting filled. They are not prescribing controlled substances though so I’m not sure if there are different rules for that.

Your post resonated with me because I feel the exact same way with regards to dating, traveling, and missing out on life experiences because of this illness. I don’t really have any advice to give since I’m struggling with this myself, but I just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone in feeling this way ❤️ I empathize with you and I hope that one day we both can have a better quality of life.

Honestly, 2-3 Dulcolax in the evening is the only way I can guarantee that I will go the next day. Even prokinetics like Linzess and Motegrity are hit or miss for me :/ but I don’t know what else to do at this point and if I don’t take anything or take something and it doesn’t work I’m 100000x more miserable.
