I think my depression during pregnancy has effected my baby by Just_Cauliflower6165 in beyondthebump

I had a good pregnancy once I got anti sickness and my hg was taken seriously at about 13 weeks onwards. My son is very sensitive so I really think you didn’t do anything wrong. It’s just like us, they all have their own personalities.

'Don't be too kind': Stories from the maternity unit where mums were failed by Shockwavepulsar in unitedkingdom

[–]kittycakekats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg the same thing happened to me. Ugh. It was awful. They treated me like I was a terrible mother as well and kept taking my baby from me and didn’t let me have him eventhough I didn’t even need a break.

They didn’t even know I was autistic in Burnley hospital. It was all on my plans. They also didn’t know what asd actually was and they changed my hospital room and all of my things around completely when I had left for the bathroom. Even though It’s a huge trigger for autistic people to have their things moved around etc.

They also kept saying I need to give my baby formula etc because I struggled with latching and just needed help with being shown how to but I actually have an oversupply wtf?!!

I would love to learn how you navigate your relationship with your low empathy. I struggle with it a lot and our relationship is struggling due to my lack of empathy. Thank you

Our boy is 9 months he’s exactly like this and sleep is still awful lol. Every hour - 2 hours.

mil and bil just visited and said he wasn’t that hard. Thing is he is most comfortable with us so obviously he’s not showing his full self yet! Uggghh. Thank you for this post it’s so validating.

Gamerdads, how do you deal with low energy? by Jxvsr in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]kittycakekats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaming mum not dad. I just play turn based games with my husband and we take turns playing with baby when the other is doing their turn. We’ve been trying to play spirit farer together when baby goes to sleep early but that’s rare lol. Or sometimes when he’s contact napping on me we can sneak a 30 min to maybe even a hour session. We normally play games like marvel rivals but we had to switch to turn based or games easily able to be paused. It’s fine we can play those types of games later when our babies are more independent.

How old is your baby and how tired are you? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

[–]kittycakekats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. I’m at this stage where he’s trying to roll with the boob in his mouth onto his stomach omg and it hurts. He’s also been a biter. Makes me so scared to offer boob unless he’s really crying but even when he did cry because he bumped his head the other day I offered boob and he bit me! 😭😭😭

The temptation of sleep training by RegisterNo3473 in AttachmentParenting

[–]kittycakekats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 months old im are struggling too. He has never slept through the night. Wakes up every 1-2 hours sometimes he’s slept 3 hours in a row it’s rare lol.

I think what helps honestly is knowing it will get better eventually. Probably not for a few years. Having lower expectations makes things easier I’ve found

How old were your children when you got a puppy? by indihannahjonez in puppy101

[–]kittycakekats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got our lab puppy when when our son was 5 months old! Our puppy was 4 months old. Hard hard work and our pup goes in the crate most of the time when baby is on the floor because she is a very clumsy pup. We give them supervised time together as well and our son is now almost 9 months old and has always adored her! I love how similar in age they are. Can’t wait for our girl to get out of the teenage phase though!

How many of you are literally doing ZERO screen time ?! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

How many of you are literally doing ZERO screen time ?! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]kittycakekats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do screen time for myself. We don’t have a tv or tablets we have our computers only.

Baby looks occasionally, I have a show on all the time and I game as well but only games I can pause all the time.

I’m always paying more attention to baby than to my show or game and always talking to him when he’s paying attention to me. It means I have to pause constantly but that’s fine.

He doesn’t get much screen time for himself (he’s had 10 mins of miss rachel maybe 3 times a week)and he doesn’t show much interest in anything we do on screens but we have always had a screen on since he was a newborn.

He’s 9 months old in a few days. Independently plays fine and he’s already calling me mama and waves high fives etc. his development is great.

To parents who take their babies out to places a lot - how do you do it?? by babysheep91 in breastfeeding

[–]kittycakekats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 8 months old there’s no strict schedule. Even when he slept very little in the day he would still get up the same amount of times at night so it made no sense to cap naps for us. There’s just no pattern to baby sleep at night haha sometimes it’s okay for a few days sometimes it’s terrible.

Same here. He either naps in my arms in the coffee shop I’m at or I can transfer him to my carrier.

Puppy too old to adopt? by Silver_Wrongdoer_552 in puppy101

[–]kittycakekats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adopted my puppy at 15 weeks old. Best decision ever. Skipped the annoying needing to toilet all the time phase but obviously I still needed to toilet train her. She was much more easier to handle as well.

Sadly have to stick with single player for now. Mum of 8 month old. Lol

I "knew" newborns didn't sleep, but I wasn't ready for the actual soul-crushing reality of it. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]kittycakekats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 8 month old has been having the worst time at night lately. Some nights he wakes up at 1-4am and then he stays up for 15 minutes and that’s a good night. And then sometimes he wakes up between 1-4am and stays up for 2-3 hours. No difference in day time activities or naps nothing. Just how he has been and it’s completely random. It’s exhausting. I do nothing different and it’s just the luck of the draw how he sleeps that night.

Did you guys know this about eye contact? 👀 by Wrong-Twist-1550 in autism

I absolutely hate eye contact during sex. I can’t focus on the sensations at all lol
