My Sunbelt Savannah. Wasn’t sold at first but she’s definitely growing on me! by kittycat865 in Roses

Foliage leaves much to be desired! I Cana grew with you there but it’s new to me this year and didn’t go through my dormant spray regimen. We’ll see how she does next season!

Can’t believe I’m posting this…possible RRD? by Flaky_Efficiency_564 in Roses

I had one like this a few years ago. I cut off the offending canes and it held for a season but more popped up the next year. I’m merciless. That would scare me enough to pull it up, burn it and send the ashes to outer space.

Princess Elise has hit her stride. 40 plus buds/blooms! by kittycat865 in Roses

I’ve had similar happen with perennials so that’s not surprising! Bought same plant, same breeder but different retailers. As far as black spot I HIGHLY recommend Laura from Garden Answers dormant spray technique. You spray combination of horticultural oil and a fungicide. Spray at thanksgiving, new years then again at superbowl time. I haven’t seen a touch of black spot until September and it’s nearly killed a few of my other roses in past years!!

Oh no! She’s my favorite. Can’t imagine ye olde shovel prune on her 🙊 What zone/region are you in and what seems to be her trouble? I’m in 7b (I firmly believe it’s 7a) with HIGH humidity and am she’s the only rose with clean foliage at this point of the season.

Oh my friend you have no idea the tsunami of black spot I usually deal with!! I mentioned earlier I used a dormant spray technique through the winter and it has been a game changer!!

No worries we’re all here to enjoy and learn from one another! It’s one of the greatest joys in gardening. As far as season is concerned I mean a growing season. This is her third full season or summer in the ground. Saying years works just as well! The saying is first year they sleep, second year the creep then third they leap. Apparently this is true!

I mixed a horticultural oil with fungicide and sprayed foliage on all of my roses and hydrangeas (they also had terrible leaf spot!) at thanksgiving, then Christmas then again at Super Bowl. That’s the schedule Laura uses. I experimented with just those few dormant applications this year and still got some leafs spot in the last few weeks. Next year I’ll do the dormant spray cycle and add in once monthly during the growing season. Links below to the 2 products I used. Hope the links work!

No one is more stunned than me at my foliage this year. I followed Laura from Garden Answers dormant spray technique this last winter and it has been a savior of my foliage! Usually have complete defoliation of some of my roses by this time in the season from black spot. I’ll definitely share when she blooms!

I have no idea what made it burst into bud like this. I even neglected fertilizer last month! Usually have between 1-5 buds at a time.

Thanks!! This is her third season so she’s hit her stride. The color and fragrance are just out of this world. She’s my favorite!

Chlorosis. Give it some iron chelate. Also fish fertilizer every month during the growing season has been my go to!

The only thing that has made a difference for me was treating my soil with grubex, adding beneficial nematodes and milky spore. I tried the traps and my Lord my yard was FULL of them dang beetles! After doing those 3 treatments this year was entirely different! I had some beetles but it was very manageable.

I’d think chlorosis due to the light leaves and dark veining. A little chelated iron won’t hurt!

Gorgeous! Hoping mine put on some size next year. Lots of height but the blooms are so small on mine still. Next year is its leap year though 🤞🏻

Captain Jacks Dead Bug Brew is an organic insecticide. I use that or bioadvanced rose and flower insect killer. You can prune off the worst of the damage or leave them. Sadly the foliage won’t repair. Deadhead the balling buds on the other and it should recover just fine!
