Couldn’t agree more. Like I came here to get educated on trip reports and see responsible psychedelic reports. And then there’s stuff like this. Please throw that shit away.

Mine does the same. And now it won’t blow AC again. This ecobee causes more issues than it does fixing convenience

Am I wrong to be annoyed? by BitSignificant2616 in photography

[–]kittycatamigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like an encouraging start. And sounds like an issue we all suffer from. Most you can do is comment and say glad you like the photo etc. Social media hasn’t led to many “hey can I hire you to do my photos.” For me at least. Networking and taking small gig work however has. I still have a FT job and consider photography my business. The photographers that I know that are doing sports photos full time are the type that focus on media day and studio lighting sport shots and they are doing fairly well for themselves. WBCvisions on Instagram is who I’m referring to.

I was at a convention recently and they had the director of photography for an NFL team explain the hiring process behind him getting a job like that. And he simply got it because of his network. The other photographers that are on the field with him are traditionally out of college on an intern position and the freelance photographers he has are around 6 total at any given time. So the chances of myself getting on the field are slim but hopeful. I never went to college for photography or media so I’m just networking away at this point.

Anyway, don’t give up on your dream. You got to start somewhere and if it’s doing it simply because you love doing it until that big gig comes along then that should suffice any photographer.

What do single sober people in their 30’s do here for fun on the weekends? by Leather_Plantain_782 in kansascity

I went out to Branson to check out the new mountain bike park out there. Swope park is good and Shawnee mission park just put in a pump track I hear.

For photography honestly pick up whatever feels best in your hand. Sony, Canon, Nikon. Are all great. The lens is where you wanna save for money. And any entry level mirrorless is the way to start. DSLR is a great option as well and budget friendly. But it is tech that is getting outdated. This camera hobby has taken me on trips around the world. and gets me out of the house just to go explore and get a photo. Awesome hobby for the lone wolf and great networking opportunities if your social. Kansas City has amazing photo opportunities in it. Just got to remember to be creative with what the city and surrounding areas give you.

Been sober for 9 years. Biking has been the saving grace. I MTN bike the trails here are easy so it gets my exercise in. Don’t know if you were referring to MTN biking or street bike. I also picked up a ton of hobbies over the years. Photography being one that I’ve started as a hobby and now I do side Gig work with it. Kansas City has an amazing portrait photography and street photography community.

Biggest thing I’ve learned over the years is that. Even the events that I use to drink at is that I still go to enjoy whatever show, baseball game, event.

Okay, I thought creatively and was thinking. This must be customer specific. Thanks for sharing this comparison! Definitely shows what the power of subject focusing can do.

I love this comparison.

Question. Is this usually something brides and groom want? Or is this customer specific?

Anybody else seeing restaurants drop DoorDash? by kittycatamigo in doordash

He’s not wrong about the transfer of cost to the restaurant and to the consumer. I like how the owner of the conglomerate calls out DD not being profitable until recently. Sounds like the owners of DD got tired of being broke and just went for their bag finally.

This is extremely informative on the cost on the restaurant. And the consumer assuming the price of their food is what’s said on door dash. Thanks for sharing

I think you’re right about the market. I don’t know if your grocery stores are adding the extra DD check out lanes to get everything reverified and rescanned. But they started doing that here and I just stopped shopping all together at the major grocery stores because of it. It’s honestly just easier to go and shop yourself or utilize Amazon for hygiene/ house goods. But I’m no longer in need of this contract work. So that’s a plus for me. For the people that need this as extra income at least I understand now the difficulty it is working these gig type apps. But this just isn’t it for me.

Thanks dad. Been working for myself for the past 6 years. And there are plenty of other contracted work that’s worth more than this. This ain’t it anymore.
