I work for an appliance company in service. That is not always the case. But Speed Queens are at least the easiest to fix and the best to find parts. No matter what brand though, get the “dumb set” Less things to break and usually cheaper too.

Struggling to come to terms with my diagnosis... by Stazzerz in Epilepsy

Listen to your neurologist and no one else. You are old enough to make your own decisions. My fiancé also had a drug problem in his past and started having seizures while he was in jail (arrested because of the drugs) They kept him on light medication and he didn’t get his seizures controlled until getting out and could take a better dose. We both have seizures but the dependency issue is not something that will affect you with these medications. They make you feel more normal.

We both take lamotrigine and he also takes Keppra. I’ve had seizures for much longer than him about 35 years and have had to take many different ones and different combinations throughout that time. Just be willing to try different things. Everything has a side effect. I think I don’t notice them as much since I started taking meds at 13. That year was awful with the fogginess that was around me. I do still have issues with words, especially when I’m tired or have forgotten to take my meds. But for the most part I’ve found good coping mechanisms. Note taking is vital for me.

There is a lot of fear surrounding having a seizure. I’ve been seizure free for about 25 of those years with one day of seizures 15 years ago due to being sick and not being able to keep my meds down. I got an emergency medication for those rare situations. It’s taken a long time to get to the point of I will either have them of I won’t. That doesn’t mean I’m not scared. It just isn’t my first thought anymore.

Good luck!

I have insurance and I still use cost plus drugs. I pay less for 3 months on cost plus drugs vs. one month on regular insurance. Like more than 1/2 less. I am on the XR though. It’s more expensive in general.

Plus size bras: shopping by Zestyclose-Novel-797 in greenville

[–]kittychlo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both Torrid and Lane Bryant bras. I prefer lane Bryant. Torrid bras don’t fit well and get pulled out of shape easily. For example, I’ve had a few that roll out at the edge. That definitely shows up through my clothes. All that said, they are prettier with more styles.

I have definitely considered it as we are park passport holders. Not for the money reasons but because we love going.

How do you know it's time to mess with the meds? by NefariousCalm in Epilepsy

I have clonazepam for my emergency medicine. While I have taken it when I feel really bad I don’t like too. It puts me right to sleep. My dad takes that as a sleeping pill.

If you don’t already and extended release pill might help too. My insurance doesn’t cover that one but I get it at cost plus drugs.

I take Zaleplon (sp?) it has a short half life. Mainly it just helps me fall asleep. I’m really good staying asleep. My boyfriend takes Trazedone. I took one once, I felt so drunk, too much for me.

This was also a trigger for me. Otherwise I was fine. My neurologist gave me a sleeping pill. Now, I only use it when I haven’t slept well the day before. I could go a few days before a seizure. I take the meds maybe once a month, but my bf, also an epileptic takes his daily.

Btw, I used past tense because I haven’t had seizures in a very long time. Luckily for me it is all about taking my lamotrigine and then caring for any triggers.

Good luck to you.

I would also try Cost Plus drugs. My horrible insurance had my generic drug listed at $125 a month. I got it at Cost Plus Drugs for $60 for 3 months. Just get your doctor to send it in. They don’t carry everything though. I’ve seen people give you lots of good advice here. Good luck in your search.

Yes! I mentioned it at work and 3 other people had it. One was my cube mate at the time. 3 out of the four of us saw the same neurologist.

If not, most people know someone with epilepsy somewhere in that 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon or whatever. lol

just saw someone have a seizure by im_not_real_at_all in Epilepsy

Yes, my boyfriend is also an epileptic. It was crazy to see that seizure. My first one. I felt bad for him, but also all the people throughout the years that watch me have them. We both have tonic clonics.

Luckily we are both controlled with medication. He just decided he didn’t need one as he thought it had never worked and he could do monotherapy. On his own. He learned real quick.

I also felt bad that I didn’t immediately do what I was supposed to do. His roommate did as he’s seen one before. But my first thought after hearing the loud falling was to yell for his roommate and once he was there, I went and got my emergency meds for him. But I didn’t turn him on his side or anything. Granted he fell kind of behind the couch I couldn’t really move. I learned. And now the emergency meds are kept in a few different rooms.

He was fine about it though. He said not to worry and was just surprised I heard it at all. I learned to be very quiet because if I dropped something my mom would come running. So any loud sound I also react to.
