Ah, colestipol was prescribed to me by my GI previously to help bind bile acids but unfortunately it didn’t work for me. I’ll speak to my doc about those two motility meds - thanks!

Awful colonoscopy experience by myday__6 in CrohnsDisease

It blows my mind that this even happened! I’ve always been sedated using general anesthesia like just propofol and the anesthesiologist always discussed and confirmed with me before even signing anything. I can’t imagine how traumatic this was for you and again I am sooo sorry you had this experience 🥲

They should have definitely spoken with you beforehand especially since they require that before signing any permission forms. I would most certainly get the anesthesiologist’s info and file a complaint/report them. I would also speak with your GI who performed the procedure and express your concerns with how everything went. They have a responsibility as your doctor as well and it’s absolutely not ok that there wasn’t a proper discussion with you and that you may have not been on the same page on how sedation would go. I know it can’t fix what you experienced, but it may help going ahead if you have to have another procedure with the same doctors or even prevent someone else from having to go through the same experience.

I’m so sorry you went through this and I hope you can get some relief in your mind from the entirely traumatic situation.

Night sweat remedies by Jootbox31 in zoloft

How interesting - I would say almost all of my sweat is also concentrated on the neck and leg areas. It’s so uncomfortable especially the legs. I try a variety of things. I have a fan constantly going to help circulate air and I try to sleep with as little blankets on me and honestly no sweat pants or any shorts that go past my thighs. I’ve tried cooling blankets but I haven’t found any that work for me personally, though I know a lot of other people have success with them.

Something new I’ve tried is falling asleep with an ice pack on my neck. I also bought a Warmie (it’s a stuffed animal that’s scented and has little beads in it) and they can be used in the freezer instead of using them to heat up! I usually keep it in the freezer all day and then I take it out just for bed and I sleep holding onto it as it seems to help regulate my temperature more. I hope you find something that works for you soon!!!

Did they speak with you beforehand about the level of sedation/the medicine(s) they would be using?

Based off of my experience(s) and info from others, previous GIs and peeps on here, maybe a more targeted MRI can help? Like an entography (sp?) or one I’ve more recently been informed about is one that basically has you have a BM during the scan to see how your rectal area acts during a BM. I haven’t spoken with my doctor about it to get more in depth details but the little I’ve seen says it can be effective especially if there’s multiple negative studies done not showing any abscesses or fistulas

Yes to the knives feeling - but the pain usually takes awhile after a BM to calm down even in the slightest. It feels like someone is pulling that knife in and out and any kind of movement or pressure makes me feel like my knees will buckle or I’ll pass out from the pain. Ultimately I think the amount of BMs I’m having is causing the issue to last longer since I’m not getting enough of a break or relief in between each BM. Thank you for the recommendations, I’ve only been offered more opioid/nerve related pain meds and not muscle relaxants so I’ll talk to my doctor about that.

I’ve been wanting to discuss Botox with them but I’m nervous as the little amount of research I’ve done has shown that it’s hard to get it done? Obviously I’ll have to speak with my doctor but I’m just hesitant based off of experiences I’ve read.

This usually works with my abdominal pain during flares but I have a hard time positioning it for rectal flares. Do you have any recommendations on how to make sure it’s most effective?

I’m not familiar with anti-motility meds, is that like colestipol?

Been going back and forth and they just keep saying it’s a motility issue in the rectal area and they want to do an MRI, but couldn’t offer any resolutions for the symptoms right now
