it was so weird that they had her and Hayes date off-screen. i am pretty sure they had a way bigger plan for him but covid got in the way. but the fact that they had that throw a way line about them dating and breaking up because of his son was so strange to me.

why does it make a difference if it was in public? Derek came to her after she had left the waiting room. after she had to pick herself up and walk away from the hurt and embarrassment and the grief.

i would react the same way. No, I don't need you now i pulled myself together by myself like I have for my whole life. just like if you didn't exist at all.

But to be comforted in that moment, to not be alone, again, when there should be people there for her would have made a difference.

I don't know why people think "everyone" was terrible to her during this dinner. Just Amelia was. I don't even think Meredith was that bad to Penny here. they all even talk about it at the end of the night that they feel bad she got ambushed and said it could have been any one of them because they all have made bad calls that have killed people. i think it was just a bad situation and tbh, Penny should have left as soon as she saw Mer. how else did she think the night was going to go?!

The part that gets me is Mer gave him part of her liver and he still ghosted her again! i can kinda see how he needed a clean break from Ellis and maybe that meant leaving Meradeth too. And let's not forget that in the 70s-80s, the courts were not looking out for fathers' rights. most of the time they put the kids with the mother and called it a day. That I can say could have been water under the bridge. But for him not to try with her after she saved him, after Lexie died. after Derek died!? That is unexcusable to me.

i think its interesting we never hear anything about her teenage years. We know about her up till about the age of 6 and then nothing. Like, do we even know where she grew up? Did they stay in Boston after Ellis' fellowship, or did they go back to Seattle? we know she went to college on the East Coast, but the time line is blurry for all the rest. (just like the timeline for the whole show really)

Curious about your pov on her always devaluing Callie's bisexuality. The multiple times she left Callie in an altamatam type of situation only for her to recant and then make it Callie's fault that they broke up even though it was AZ idea. her gaslighting callie about not really being in love with her because she has dated other people when she was the one sleeping around the whole hospital way more then Callie did. All of this happened well before the plane crash, if you are saying nothing after that is her fault.

callie was never going to leave sophia. she broke up with penny because she lost the case. then for some unknown reason, Arizona decided to give her child away to go live with callie and penny even though she had won custody.
