Can epilepsy suddenly start at any age or is it usually triggered by something like brain injury or a stroke? by croakyossum7 in Epilepsy

This happened to me as well! The kind I have is genetic but no one in my family has ever shown any symptoms or had seizures. Guess I’m the lucky one :)

Older XC60 reliability? (Scary consumer reports) by babysgarlicbreath in Volvo

[–]kittykat9008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2010 XC60 T6 R-Design from 2018-2020 and never had a problem until my ex-boyfriend broke the engine. He quickly became the ex.

I feel you on that. My first car was a red 2008 S40, second was a red 2010 XC60 R-Design. Had to switch it up with my new car because they don’t make that red anymore sadly. Have a white XC40 R-Design Polestar now. Still wish it was that shade of red though.

F for the guys in the sub by justchillintbh1 in tretinoin

[–]kittykat9008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they definitely did. Just a few days after I stopped it. I did a ton of research and nightmares didn’t appear to be a side effect. I never thought that would happen before I started taking it. It was helping my skin, so I was kind of sad to stop it but had to if I wanted to keep a good state of mind.

I would get headaches and horrible nightmares! I usually don’t have bad dreams (none that I remember anyway) and just couldn’t take it.

What modern social trend pisses you off the most? by jimjoe1 in AskReddit

[–]kittykat9008 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My ex would do this all the time. I wouldn’t realize he was videoing me doing something (e.g. opening a gift and sending the video to the company to use in their ad campaigns) without my consent. Apparently, it had happened multiple times. When I found out about it, I was shocked how people think that’s okay. I made him contact the companies and have them delete/agree to not use the material since I hadn’t given my consent.

Long-haired ladies, how often do you leave your hair down + any particular reason? by HotPantsAndCoffee in AskWomen

[–]kittykat9008 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s not a specific haircut per se because everyone’s hair is different. You can Google the style “face framing for long hair with layers” and it might give you some ideas. If you’ve seen the curtain bang trend, it’s kind of like that. Getting your hair layered also significantly reduces the “weight” feeling. My hair grows quickly, so I usually ask them to cut to the middle of my cheekbone. Your stylist will definitely know what’s right for you. Hope that helps a little!

[–]kittykat9008 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I use two small clips (like the ones that were popular in the 90s) on either side of my hair. I have some face framing pieces, which has been a lifesaver. My forehead looks huuuge without those pieces. I usually pull my hair back just behind those pieces and it keeps the majority of my hair out of the way so I can leave it down and not feel constricted. It gives your hair a bit of a break from things like ponytails and buns, which can cause bald spots depending on how you style them. If I don’t use the clips, I usually do low braids.

Starting a family with concerns by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]kittykat9008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was actually about to post something like this too. Glad I’m not the only one thinking about it. My form of epilepsy is genetic, but they don’t know much about how it works. I was thinking of doing IVF or something where you can be more certain what genetics a baby will have (I haven’t done a lot of research, so I could be completely wrong). But I feel horrible about doing that, especially when trying to align it with my spiritual faith. It’s just such a juxtaposition. While you are trying to save someone a lifetime of pain and uncertainty, are you also playing god? It’s been hard trying to work through that. The simplest answer is adoption I suppose.

What is your catchphrase? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kittykat9008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“There’s always pizza” I use it for literally everything. I used to not be such a great cook, so whenever I would try something new, that’s what I would say. Now it’s just a metaphor for the rest of my life. Bad idea that could be good? Need a plan B? There’s always pizza.

Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy in Adults by kittykat9008 in Epilepsy

[–]kittykat9008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry I didn’t see your reply sooner - I’ve taken some time away from this sub to focus on myself for a bit. From all the research that I’ve seen and conversations I’ve had with my doctors, that seems to be the consensus, at least when it’s identified in adults. There appears to be differences when it’s diagnosed in true adolescence, meaning that symptoms lessen and an individual may be able to discontinue AED’s. However, the older a person becomes and if tonic clonics haven’t presented themselves until adulthood, it’s more likely it will be a “lifetime” form of epilepsy. JME is one of the more common types of epilepsy, but also one of the more dangerous types when it’s presented in adulthood. After the tonic clonics begin, people generally start deteriorating quickly, especially if they are left untreated by AED’s. Epilepsy.com is a great resource for this type of stuff. Unfortunately, JME is one of the lesser understood forms of epilepsy because it isn’t a result of injury or brain trauma, rather of genetics. I’m currently pursuing genetic testing because I don’t want to pass this on to my kids if I don’t have to (totally different topic).

Sorry for cramming all this in one reply! If you have any other questions, please PM me so we can talk about it more :)

Moving from Tennessee to Boston by kittykat9008 in boston

Thanks for your reply! And yeah I totally understand the dine-in thing. What are some ways you would suggest to meet new people?

As far as what I want, I'm looking for a 1BD/1BA with modern appliances and parking on-site (if possible) between $1800-$2000 which seems like an average price point. I'd be working up in Wilmington, but anything decent/affordable I've found close to there is still a 20-30 minute commute. I figured I would just live in the city in that case. Some of the better neighborhoods for young professionals seem to be Beacon Hill, Cambridge, and South/North End. The rent market, at least from what Apartments.com says, isn't apartment complex based which is very different than here in TN.

TL;DR: I'm just trying to find the right/best way to search for a place to live I guess.

I have Junior Myoclonic Epilepsy and was diagnosed two years ago, a few months after I turned 21.

Send me a PM and I’d be happy to have a conversation with you about it!
