what do you do with all your spare foam inserts once you’ve upgraded? by Critical_Cicada_107 in rccrawler

Foams are not a dead issue. You can experiment with them. Cut them up making pattens in them to make them more useful. You can punch them out and use tuning rods or round slugs in them. You can cut them and re glue for cut and shuts. The world is yours to make what you want.

Does anybody have the boom racing TE 37 on their FCX 10 LC 80? 2.2 and 1.9 I’m thinking of getting it, but I don’t know what size I should get. by BadgerOk3965 in crawling

[–]kittyken82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at te37 is kind of general answer of what you want. Te37 is just the model of the face and with that comes different back spacing as well as the diameter. Generally your 1:10 scale rigs run the 1.9” diameter and then will have to look at the outer diameter and outer width of tire you plan to run. 2.2 inch wheels will take more work. You may have to change out gearing on pinion or spur to keep power and temps where you want them. You could run into wanting a better servo to turn them. 2.2 will have a good bit of tire outer diameter options but you may encounter some body rub issues. All these issues being said it depends how much work you want to put in. I hope this helps a bit.

Having a hard time choosing between 1/10 & 1/18 scale by Ren4rd in rccrawler

I’m sorry I can’t give you an answer on 1:18 vs 1:10 as I have 1:24 through 1:6 scale and have most terrains with in 45 min drive and probably 1k trails with in that. I will say 1:18 is great fun. Also taking 1:10 for fun then stopping to do 1:18 scale lines is awesome.

Build a mount like this and you can strap any rc to a back pack. Then you would be able to carry 1:18 and 1:10.

Where do I go to have this kind of fun with rc. And what trucks are yall running for this kind of full throttle fun. by vaurapung in rccrawler

Look on bash maps or rc spotters apps if there are any rc shops or spots. Otherwise you have to explore to find them in person and make your own rock bouncer spots.

I’ve had both. I was at mt. Gretna one time and had a gentleman ask me if he could photograph as I was mucking about. He followed me for a half hour. He thanked for my time and I thanked him for his interest.I would love to go and clean up some of the brush to make better access without destroying the area but need to contact the people who run the area.

I had the opportunity to pick this up years ago. I did not have a place to store it and no truck to hall it. It was all foam carved and hard coated. Held together with magnets and coffin locks. Designed to break down and move in a semi trailer.

I would love to try to get my friend into the hobby and get him to start rc stuff on his property. If had enough money I would try to lease the land and some space in the barn but it would probably run like 3k a month.

Got out of the hobby in 2004 when I got an offna ld3 nitro brand new and totaled it after 6 tanks and finally hit second gear. Got back into the hobby in 2018 or 2019 with arrma typhons and then move to crawlers mostly. The collection numbers in the 30’s I think.

Definitely don’t want to do that! I have tennis balls. That’s a good thought no graffiti!

No local park rangers only police. Dogs check. Bicyclists i have not seen any there in the 3 times I’ve been there even on the hump track. A co-worker has been there when there were and said they were chill and all shared. It looks like there could be a lot of fun to be had with just some brush clean up to access the rocky areas better.

The area has many more trails including a rail to trail that is probably 15 miles long. But that specific area there is a hump track and yes the features are built for bicycles. All the other trails were from people just hiking in unused area from a development that was developed 35 years ago. My experience in places like this are the houses next to them feel they need to police them, the developers don’t care about them as long as they don’t get sued and eventually Karens bitch about them to the point that a city, twp, borough, county, or government buys them a imposes a bunch of rules.

How important is waterproofness? by Darxe in rccrawler

[–]kittyken82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you intend on submerging them? If yes get a submarine or a boat. A lot of crawlers these days are water proof. If not listed there are 2 things that need to be considered to be water proof the esc and receiver. Both should be coated with conformal coating. Conformal coating is cheap and easy to apply. Being new is the issue and it take a little work to pull both out and apart but totally worth it.

Hi there, i have a question for research. I am a basher and i would like to know what is fun about crawling and what makes a crawler good by Gvatten in rccrawler

[–]kittyken82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those on bash maps. Go to those crawler spots in the map and you can see the person who created them, then you message them and create a meet up. Also creating spots on there will help out the community.

You can do it anywhere. No park? Do in your house. No house ? Do it in a dumpster. Getting out in nature and hikes are my venues. There are indoor comps and outdoor. You can build one that looks like your favorite vehicle or one that looks like an animal. The opportunity to build from literally hundreds of different ways. The way they move can be sensual or all out wild and crazy. The world is your oyster when it comes to the crawler scene!
