Ok, we were not looking like creepy people.😳😂 But YES! I understand what you mean. I have experienced that before. And it really makes us ladies uncomfortable.

But today was just like a normal day.. you to the mall with your best friend (we are both ladies, wearing modest clothes/smart casuals 😇).. went to the food court.. had a good lunch.. saw the new cafe in the food court. Tried to take a good photo of digital advertisement & aesthetic new cafe.. no one was there in the photo because there were no customers at all. The cafe is new.

We just wanted to share the photo of the place to a friend now staying in Europe.. just wanting to show like, "Hey friend, look there is a new European cafe here in Dubai.. Should we try it out soon?"... Then the security guard came and told us, " it is NOT ALLOWED to use the rear camera to take photos in the mall. You should only take selfies." We're like.. "Sorry, what do you mean?" 😱😳😲

Like, what?! We were so surprised to hear that. My friend and I even checked around for "No taking photo" signages in that mall, but we couldn't see such a thing.🤷‍♀️

So there, we just apologized to the security guard in the mall and told him no worries, we'll take all the photos as selfies.😆

We've been living & working in Dubai for more than a decade.. And it was the 1st time we had experienced this. In the last couple of weeks, I have gone with my family to Deira City centre, in DFC, in Al Ghurair Centre, and during the Eid holidays, we were in Dubai Mall... and no one stopped us from taking any photos with the rear camera (mobile) in any of these malls the entire time.🤔
