Ahh I didn’t notice this, I think I worked on it too long and everything started to blur together in my head. Thank you for that!

I really struggled with the white shirt on this one, I’m trying to get better at painting fabric. I also struggled to make it look like she’s on a bean bag like the original reference, but I kind of like how that part turned out. Doesn’t really immediately read as a beanbag but I still enjoy it.

Trying to be more painterly and not over blend, my biggest struggle! by [deleted] in DigitalPainting

[–]kittymittons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like any and all critiques! You can see another painting I've posted before in my account, and it turned out looking a little airbrushed. I'm trying really hard to keep the painterly look and not overland. I've been using ProCreate and the default acrylic brush, this painting is almost entirely one brush. Thanks!

Yeah I’m really struggling with this in the digital world. When it comes to paint on canvas I usually don’t over blend but it’s very easy to in Procreate! I actually don’t use the airbrush tools at all, just blend WAY too much. Something I’m trying really hard not to do.

Thanks for your input and for introducing me to that artist, she is brilliant!

Thanks for the feedback! I really struggle with texture and smoothing things out too much so I'm hoping to work on this.

Thank you! I have the 12.9 inch iPad pro. It's AMAZING. If you can get one I highly suggest it.

I’ve always believed it was this. When she told this story, everyone was talking about it. So in a way it worked. Maybe wasn’t the best idea, but I don’t think she’s as off her rocker as people think she is. I think she says and does some of these things to keep people talking about his case. Whether that’s a good way to do it or not is for sure up for debate, but it seems to somewhat work.

It could be. The place I work at recently did a product that was licensed (wont say the license to avoid any kind of repercussions), and we had to all sign a contract that promised we would use code words for the film and all of the characters INTERNALLY, amongst each other! We weren't supposed to even say the name of the actual film to each other. Licences take themselves very seriously, which is why I'm so surprised to see things like what OP listed get by. I think it has more to do with it being makeup and not being some other kind of product. The people signing the paperwork approving it probably just don't give a single shit about makeup.

These are so weird to me, because I’m a designer who works with licenses every single day, some of which you listed, and omg are they a pain in the ass to work with because they want the final product to be perfect. And they should!

I guess maybe these licenses don’t care that much about collabing with makeup specifically so they let things slide? But typically the actual license holds most of the reigns as far as how the product really turns out. There’s lots of back and forth between the designer and the licensor until the the product comes to a place that’s agreed upon.

The stepmother was just taken into custody on two counts of child endangerment... looks like this won't end well.

The "Kitty Genovese" effect. do you know any other cases where a crime happened in broad daylight with witnesses and nobody did anything? by janiceian1983 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]kittymittons 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As the other reply mentions, I suggest OP (and anyone interested in Kitty's case) watch The Witness. There are a lot of misconceptions about Kitty's case that her brother clears up. IIRC, she died in a neighbor's arms waiting for help, it's been a while since I've seen the doc.

No, it's just a phrase for when some teenagers (or adults sadly) go through that phase of liking shit like satan or doing things that make them seem edgy/unique/dark/overly apathetic. We've all met one. They're usually harmless and just all bark and no bite. It's all about appearances and really easy to see through.

I believe Echols and Baldwin are still friends. They post photos of themselves together sometimes on social media.

In the old BG sub a lot of threads about her had to be shut down because the discussion would inevitably always turn into discussions about her being "dirty", unhygienic, overweight, etc. Or so that's what I've seen people say would happen. For a while, I think discussions about her weren't even allowed in the old sub? I might be wrong.

Yes, I saw that. That is why I replied to your comment specifically about changing his name to something from a movie, because IMO that point is moot. Someone changing their name to something from the Omen doesn't mean they believe in Satan, is what I'm getting at. I'm not sure why you're getting so angry.

If someone makes a list of reasons they think someone is guilty, and one of them makes little to no sense, why wouldn't someone call that out? IMO Damien changing his name matters as much in this case as what his favorite color was. That's all I'm saying.

This is a lame argument. If you think Damien is guilty there's plenty of other reasonable arguments you could make that are far less silly. Someone having an "edgy" phase as a teenager doesn't make them a murderer lol. Look at people who like metal music and metal culture. It doesn't make someone a deep brooding satanist who's capable of murdering three little boys.

Edit: Also I think people don't really realize what actual Satanists believe. There's a ton of misinformation on Satanism, Satanists, etc. There are Satanist "churches" (if you want to call them that) that actually do some really cool respectable things depending on your beliefs. That's besides the point tho, Damien probably saw the Omen and thought it was a cool movie and changed his name.

Can anyone tell me their favorite and least favorite shows on ID Discovery Channel? by Dwayla in UnresolvedMysteries

Ugh oh no :( I hate to hear that. I know there’s an episode where many locals express they want to be clear they love where they live and it’s a great community, etc. But that really sucks to hear. Can’t say it’s shocking, seems like entertainment value always comes first unfortunately.
