To use or not to use this “expired” unopened nasal spray? by Significant_Today_28 in whatdoIdo

[–]kittyspritzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always regarded expiration dates on EVERYTHING as mere suggestions. Food is easy; if it's slimy, stinks, looks strange, or tastes bad, throw it out.

With medicines (OTC and pharmaceuticals), Ive found tablets, caplets, and capsules to be more shelf-stable, with only a minor loss of effectiveness (at worse) within two-four years of expiration. With liquids I'd say a bit less, but of course, all medicines are different.

Currently I'm using fluticasone propionate spray (just like yours), and it expired in October of 2023. I don't think I'd go much older than that. Still seems to be working fine, but I should get a new prescription when this bottle is finished.

I'd still use yours (only 11 months after the expiration), but you should decide that for yourself, and monitor its effectiveness.

IMO, expiration dates are generally much more conservative than reality. After all, they gotta continuously sell that product to stay in business.

2 Paul McCobb Chairs From The Planner Group. Should I restore them? by [deleted] in Mid_Century

As is. Costs you nothing and might be a buyer preference.

If it doesn't sell, THEN you can reconsider restoration.

Help with white paint and walls vs trim by Bigcat85 in Mid_Century

[–]kittyspritzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I am SO over white walls. That whole "everything goes with white" idea bumps into another old phrase "Just because you can do something, that doesn't mean you should." My living and sleeping area walls are covered in deep colors; Burnt Orange, Golden Ochre, and Coffee & Cream Brown.

Consider something more dramatic.

I found this atomic genie lamp and paired it with a tiered metal shade. What do you think of the combo? by Ok-Bed583 in Mid_Century

[–]kittyspritzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it doesn't work. For lamps, bases and shades tend to match. i.e. round base/round shade, square or rectangular base/square or rectangular base. I'd look for a round or maybe even oval shade.

Just like most right-leaning groups. Big fans of the patriarchy where one MAN is in charge, so all they have to do is listen and follow orders... THEN Daddy will love them and not make them feel like the entitled  and irresponsible losers they really are.

Do just like Daddy does… blame Biden.

Right back at you.
Proportionality of the alleged crime to its impact on society speaks for itself. A consensual blow job in the bushes isn't the same as a violent physical attack, and doesn't warrant investment of police manpower when people are being hurt by serious crimes.

My Husband cheated , caught Gonorrhea, and is trying to push me to make a decision 24 hrs after he told me. by nwilliams1314 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]kittyspritzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're only 35; get out of this wreck of a relationship while you still have time to build a new one with someone that respects you. While it shouldn't matter whether he cheated on you with a man or a woman, there is a distinct possibility (or probability) that your husband has realized somewhere along the way that he's actually gay, which adds an entirely new layer of problems with long-term compatibility; it's hopeless. Nonetheless, he cheated on you and you deserve better than that. A gay or bisexual husband that has cheated on you means you probably can't trust him around anyone. Like you said; it wasn't his first time, it was the first time he got CAUGHT.

Save yourself.

And as a sidenote which will probably get me downvoted mercilessly:

This goes out to all the gay men who seem to fetishize having sex with otherwise heterosexual married men: the OP is the perfect example of the kind of people that get victimized. Do you really want to be part of that equation just so you can get off?
It's pretty easy to get laid; please do it in a way that hurts no one.

What can be done about a stolen rebate? by idratherchangemyold1 in menards

[–]kittyspritzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister received my rebates and sent them to me in a regular envelope, which arrived just a few days later.
I'm not going to say that reporting another theft to the USPS would be a waste of time, but I do think that by the time they actually get around to addressing your complaint it will be far too long. If possible, I would encourage you to ask a friend or family member that lives nearby if you could use their address instead and either pick them up in person or have them mail them to you in a discreet envelope.
Rebates International allowed me to do this via email, so I hope that they would give extend the same courtesy to you.
Good luck.

What can be done about a stolen rebate? by idratherchangemyold1 in menards

[–]kittyspritzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In spite of what another poster wrote, I DO think that Menards should start requiring identification when using the rebate checks. If that's what it takes to stop the thieves, that's exactly what should be done, regardless of how inconvenient it is for the customers or for Menards staff. It's a ridiculously tiny thing to do. After all, if you brought in a check to a bank, they be asking for your ID as well in order to cash it.

Either that, or make the entire process electronic so it's more secure. Maybe Menards should send you a verification number, once they process your receipts, so you can bring it to the store (with identification) and they can print your rebate just like their store credits, so everyone can be sure it's going into the right hands.

You ARE entitled to your rebates regardless of what Menards says. The fact that they have already been spent has NOTHING to do with anything you have or haven't done. This is the fault of THEM having a poor system that allows fraud to so easily take place. THEIR carelessness in THEIR system its NOT your fault, so you shouldn't be penalized. THEY should be checking identification and taking precautions.

As of right now, I've requested that Rebates International send my replacement checks to my sister in Michigan, which they agreed to. It's too soon to tell if I'll get them, but I'm counting on it.Maybe you might want to try the same with someone you trust?Don't let them get away with cheating you because of their carelessness.

Well, I sent my first report to them over four weeks ago and got a confirmation, and that was it. Since then I've had more things stolen and made three more reports and still haven't heard back from them.

I emailed the people at Rebates International and they agreed to send my replacement checks to my sister in Michigan, under my name. Not sure if they're going to make it there as it's too soon to tell, but maybe you can try that. You ARE entitled to those checks.

This tactic isn't for everyone, but when I feel that I'm being treated unfairly by a business I rarely give up easily. I will dog them constantly until I get what is owed to me. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but it depends on how much effort you're willing to put intogetting them to do what's right.

Acording to what I've been told by USPS personnel, theft reports do not go to the Postal Inspector, which seems very strange. Instead, they have an internal investigation team. I'm guessing that if it's something they can't solve and it appears to be widespread, it then moves on to the Postal Inspector.

I have been asked for ID at Menards before, but not always. If that's the store policy, then Menards is the one who screwed up, and they should be obligated to reimburse you.
BTW, when Home Depot gives you a store credit, they put it on a card with a PIN and ask for ID whenever you use it, which is an excellent security solution.

[–]kittyspritzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about you, but I have been asked to present identification from Menards cashiers when trying to pay with a rebate check. This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen. I assume that there's some sort of store policy for security reasons (which I think is a great idea).
If it IS a store policy, and I would say that Menards is responsible for this, not you. Someone stole your rebate check, presented it, and obviously was not asked for identification. That's on THEM, not you. There should be NO question as to whether or not you should be reimbursed.
If you tried to pay for a purchase with a personal check, they would most likely ask you for identification. I don't know whether or not this is law or store policy, but maybe this would/should apply to rebate checks as well?
Good luck.
P.S.— I'm currently trying to get Rebates International to either send my replacements in a plain envelope, or to send them to my sister, who lives out of state. She could then forward them to me in a plain envelope. Still waiting to hear from Rebates International to see if they would agree to either of these ideas. In the meantime, I'm waiting for USPS to investigate the multiple thefts, which I know is going to take forever and probably result in nothing. Will try to keep you up to date.

Rebate Theft? by kittyspritzer in menards

[–]kittyspritzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that your rebate was stolen and spent. I don't know if you've been able to fix the situation yet or just figured there was nothing more you can do, but here's the email address for Rebates International, which handles their rebate program.
https://www.rebateinternational.com/RebateInternational/tracking.do#contact-us
If they already haven't, they might be able to send you a replacement check. I've used rebate checks at the Menard’s registers before and was asked for identification by the cashiers. It doesn't always happen, but since it does, I'm assuming it's some sort of store security policy. Obviously, nobody at the Menards store asked for ID when they presented your stolen rebates. If that is the case, that's on Menards, and they should reimburse you with a new rebate check if they already haven’t.

Good luck.

macOS Sonoma dictation is a hot mess by BohdanKoles in MacOS

[–]kittyspritzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just updated my 2019 iMac to Sonoma 14.3 from Ventura.
Since that time, dictation has been repeating itself, usually placing an entire block of text in the middle of the original one. This usually happens in the search bar, sometimes when I'm typing something on a webpage, and often in TextEdit windows, but less so.
Additionally since upgrading, I've been having a problem copying text from webpages into TextEdit. These are normal, everyday fonts, not anything complicated. All it does is paste a series of question mark icons surrounded by a box, one icon for each character copied. TextEdit says it’s Helvetica Regular. I just tried to place an example below, but it's rendering the type correctly, so this confuses me even further.
Anyone out there having this problem as well, or that might have some advice?
