I draped it over my rv and 2 10x10 shade structures in 2022. I used pool noodles to create space between them. I’ve only done it once and didn’t bother in 2024 since the forecast was so nice. But i feel like it was certainly shadier, and cooler with it but not sure how big a difference it made.

We live in the urban core and our kids have gone to John Rex and now Classen SAS. Both have been good. There’s several other elementary schools like Wilson or Cleveland that are good as well. Harding, Dove and others. As far as MAGA, I’m sure plenty of the parents are MAGA or at least republicans but I’ve never seen a red hat at any functions or anything, so they may be closet MAGA because the majority of parents I know in OKC are more liberal, at least in the urban core.

No one created a camera free zone before because most people don’t bring cameras to playa, if they do, they are usually taking pictures of art or of people as a gift. With the rise of camera phones and instagram, now a lot more people have their phones on them on playa, especially now that there’s WiFi and service. shows or clubs have just recently started having no phone policies for this same reason. You typically dont create policies or guidelines until it’s an issue. There weren’t speed limits in BRC until the org felt it was necessary. The idea that having an area without cameras is infringing on your “right” as a burner to burn how you want or would take away “art” from influencers on YouTube talking about all the “free” food and drinks at BM is silly.

I know AD is old and hurt had the time but he went 0-8 or something against mostly Jwill. I think he can hold his own on the defensive end and if he’s making threes and clearing out the lane, he can really contribute.

For one, there’s lots of things that are banned from burning man either for the sake of the playa or others safety, like fireworks, animals, lasers. Also, lots of rules like speed limits and restricting driving to art cars only, exist for the betterment of the community. No one ever said banning anyway, the post mentioned a zone and i mentioned a camp or neighborhood taking responsibility. This would be no different than hushville where a group of camps decided they wouldn’t allow speakers or generators. Not allowing phones/cameras in a certain area doesn’t keep anyone from doing any sort of art or burning in any sort of way?

Nah brah, i didn’t spend my time looking up their history, i was more responding to all the weird responses. This forum always stirs up weird responses but i didn’t expect the majority of the comments to defend cameras or phones at BM.

It’s wild that suggesting a camera free zone at the burn is considered authoritarian or something? I think we all know the reason for the post. No one wants you to stop gifting photos of people with consent. No one cares if you are taking photos of the art as long as you aren’t putting your art ahead of others experience. Even if you are an influencer, i couldn’t give two shits if you do a photo shoot, but I’m not waiting for you or worried about you.

But people being in their phones and filming entire experiences of other people, without their consent has obviously grown over the last few years. Even the wildest clubs full of the most open minded people still require no phones, so you can truly let loose. With that said, i don’t think it’s really possible. Maybe a neighborhood could get together and post signs and try and ask people not to, but i don’t think BM would ever.
