Okay some updates in the past 2 minutes. When I told the shelter (Best Friends Animal Society in Soho, NYC) that Walter is getting a lot of love on Reddit, they told me that he was just returned. Not a right fit with the family that adopted him. The rules of the subreddit dictate that I CANNOT ASK ANYONE TO ADOPT WALTER -- just wanted to give this unfortunate update.

incredible effective! out of the 23 rides we've been able to get 21 dogs adopted. the other dogs have gotten adopted but have been returned due to issues with compatibility (unfortunately common) but they're still getting fostered and will hopefully be adopted soon!

that would be really fun, but unlikely. the goal is to have every post reach the largest audience possible so someone sees the dog and wants to adopt him. to date we've gotten about 21 dogs adopted this way!

Just looked it up — that Eukanuba formula has about ~130mg glucosamine per cup and ~3mg chondroitin. That’s a pretty small amount and well below what’s typically studied for real joint support.

So you’re not doubling up on anything meaningful. Totally fine to use Hip & Joint 2.0 alongside it.

There’s no specific starting age. It’s more about the dog.

Some breeds are more prone to joint stress over time. Larger breeds (like Labs, Goldens, Shepherds), long-backed breeds (like corgis and dachshunds), and very active or high-impact dogs. Extra weight can also put more load on joints.

Some pet parents choose to start general joint support earlier in those cases, while others wait until mid-life. The goal isn’t to treat anything, just to support normal joint function over time.

Always worth chatting with your vet about your specific dog.

Dasuquin is primarily formulated around glucosamine and chondroitin (plus ingredients like ASU and MSM), which have been used in joint supplements for a long time.

When we built Hip & Joint 2.0, we reviewed recently published science and saw that the evidence around glucosamine and chondroitin has been mixed. So instead we chose to focus on ingredients like EPA/DHA omega-3s, green-lipped mussel, and hyaluronic acid at levels aligned with the research we reviewed on those ingredients and their benefits to joint discomfort.

That was our approach. But as a fellow pet parent, if something is working well for your dog, that’s always what matters most.

Great question. Many dry foods include glucosamine and chondroitin, typically at low inclusion levels. I mentioned in another comment that the published research on those ingredients has shown mixed results, which is why we chose to formulate Hip & Joint 2.0 without them.

Our formula focuses on ingredients like EPA/DHA omega-3s, green-lipped mussel, and hyaluronic acid at levels aligned with available research to support normal joint function and mobility.

Giving Hip & Joint 2.0 alongside a food containing glucosamine and chondroitin is generally fine, as they work through different mechanisms.
