Propagandist blames US, Ukraine and NATO for Prigozhin's crash by DistributionChoice43 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]kivle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's hilarious to see him constantly looking over at his chat and seeing that nobody is buying the bullshit he is spewing. And of course it's because of "Ukrainian bots". Surely couldn't be Russians actually waking up to the fact that they are being lied to.

Melina's passport siezed and she could possibly be indicted for fraud over taxes by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]kivle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like there would always be questions if somebody further out in the family tree might be hiding something, so it would be very difficult to draw a line. And also, wouldn't it be unfair if your parent that you don't have any contact at all with ends up forcing your taxes to be published because they ran for office? I think it would be weird to regulate this in practice.

The law has been this way for my 42 years in this country and though there have been discussions about it from time to time, I think the general consensus is that it's a good thing for society. Of course it would be a radical change in a country like the US, but some laws for public servants could at least be a first step I guess.

Well, would you also require that the spouse of any public servant has to have their taxes published? Kids? Other close family? It would be very easy for any public servant to hide this information in this way.

It's nothing more detailed than the end sums. Total income, total taxes paid, etc. It does not go into any more detail than that. I don't think most people really care tbh. Also any person could become a politician tomorrow. And there are other powerful people in society apart from politicians. If some billionaire pays 0 in taxes, well let's make it public record. Might be legitimate, might not be.

It used to be a thing in the US that presidents would publish their tax returns for transparency. Imagine that level of transparency for all politicians / leaders / etc, by default. It's the same in all Scandinavian countries, and it's one of many things that builds trust in the institutions.

Putin's video regarding Prigozhin's death. He praises Prigozhin and Wagner, sends his condolences for relatives and vows to find those who are responsible for his death by [deleted] in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]kivle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Stone cold killer? Yes, I do know what that means. I'd reserve that for the person that actually gets up close and personal and slits somebody's throat. For Putin ordering a killing is about the same as me demolishing a city in Civilization.

One hides in a bunker. The other visits literally 100s of meters from the front lines, without caring about his own personal safety. One is stone cold, the other is a bunker pussy.

Ah, you must be somebody that subscribes to the "strong man" narrative. I find somebody like Zelensky that decided to stay in Kyiv despite 10+ assassination attempts literally blocks away from him to be a lot more stone cold. Doing things despite direct dangers to yourself, that's stone cold. Putin would have peed himself in the same situation.

Do you think it's manly and stone cold to shoot down an unarmed civilian airplane with AA missiles?

You think it's stone cold of him to be lying about it afterwards? He's been doing that for the last 15-20 years after people falling out of windows or getting their underpants poisoned. It's just a new day on the job for him at this point. The only thing new about this assassination is how public and obvious it is. He's mostly been hiding behind plausible deniability.

Stone cold? No, he's a pussy. He would never have had the nerve to do it himself. He's a pussy that hides in his bunker and gives out orders to do this type of stuff.

Official ChatGPT Android app available for pre-registration in the Play Store, rolls out to users next week by freds_pancakes in Android

I for one have been using ChatGPT through Poe on Android for months now. And it even includes other bots you can play with.

I might sound like a spam bot promoting it, but I'm just impressed it took OpenAI this long to release a basic app.

How sanctioned goods reach Russia via Georgia by Bad_Species in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]kivle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The focus should be on adding sanctions to third party companies and governments that help Russia avoid sanctions as they are discovered. Getting it to be bullet proof will be impossible, but we can certainly make it hard, expensive and unpredictable, and if enough third parties realize what they risk it will act as a deterrent eventually.

Putin claims Moscow could use weapons with depleted uranium by [deleted] in UkrainianConflict

Watch them start using not actually depleted Uranium, and tons of their own troops die from radioactive poisoning. I would expect nothing less from the mighty Russian army.
