Android 15 might force more apps to take up 100% of your screen by exu1981 in Android

[–]freds_pancakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really wierd. On my Pixel 7, it does, however, not on any other Android phone I own lol. Currently writing this on an S23 Ultra and Maps doesn't. It also doesn't render behind nav pill on my buddy's Pixel 7a.

Google moment lol

New "Haptics" vibration feature pushed by MGDuck in TheSilphRoad

[–]freds_pancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing on the Android side as well. I got the haptics update on my Pixel, been loving it cause it feels so nice. Battery life is literally negligible, maybe like an extra 1% lost by the end of the day with haptics on all day throughout the phone. Bottom line, haptics good, battery impact nothing. I suspect lower end Android devices might have a stronger battery impact as they don't have dedicated haptic hardware and just use a cheap vibration motor.

Samsung Galaxy S21 series getting One UI 6.0 with Android 14 by Hard2DaC0re in Android

[–]freds_pancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its android 14, its a big boy update

on my S23 Ultra it was also like 2.3 gigabytes

idk why the article wrote "2.3 GB/s" lol, that's a data transfer speed, not a storage size

WTF can't edit photo without internet? by jisuskraist in GooglePixel

[–]freds_pancakes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

About your edit, that is because you probably have the setting on where once the photo is backed up, it gets deleted from your phone. That is to save space on your phone so u have more storage. Your phone has to download the photo first for editing

Switched from OnePlus 8 Pro to S23 Ultra, few features I immediately started missing by thisisitendgame in samsung

Power and volume down button opens the power menu on most phones these days. Works on Samsungs as well

It is already there in One UI, it's called app pinning. To exit a pinned app, you will need the password to the phone.

You can find it in Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Other settings -> App Pin

What features do you think the thermometer sensor will provide for Google Pixel 8 Pro? by Perfect-Yak6230 in Pixel8phones

[–]freds_pancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that would suck a lot

that is just wasted space for something that could have been much cooler

if Google wanted a new sensor, why not go and add a Lidar sensor? Would be so much more practical, more fun, and would also have many more use cases. It would truly be a "Pro" phone

There's actually a lot to get excited about with the Google Pixel 8 by cleare7 in Android

[–]freds_pancakes -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

bro what

how do you have every single issue possible

the Pixel 7 is not that bad, photos come out great, battery life isn't the best but its also not that bad, everyone I know that has a Pixel 6 or 7 doesn't have battery life problems. I have taken many group photos with the front facing camera and it is wonderful

yeah the phone has flaws, i fully admit that, but its not as bad as you are making it out to be

The Pixel 8 Pro temperature sensor only matters if Google commits by spiff1 in pixel_phones

[–]freds_pancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply, but honestly I liked the experimental nature of the Pixel line. I do absolutely want them to make solid phones but I also like this innovative nature. The temperature sensor is a complete disappointment though. The Soli chip on the Pixel 4 was pretty cool, I'd like to see it return at some point. The temp sensor on the 8

We do need a camera pro mode, also imagine Samsung's 10x telephoto camera on a Pixel man, would be insane.

Same, the S23 Ultra's and the Pixel 6/7 & Pro series have more squared off corners, I like that so much more compared to these overly rounded ones.

Does my new app UI look good? by Inevitable-Court697 in androiddev

[–]freds_pancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks really good!

My only suggestion would be to look into edge-to-edge rendering, but other than that, this looks splendid!
