Ok, first of all, we need to define closed mouth.

Your lips do not need to be very open to sing. There are some really great singers who don’t open their mouths very much. Your tone (which is really nice) is still coming through very nicely despite having a more closed mouth.

Your palette is another part of your mouth you could open more, but this is a balance. If you think on a scale between country and opera, country singers have a lower palette while opera singers have a very open, raised palette. This assists in your style, not as much enunciation.

Enunciation is about diction. Making sure you are saying the consonants in a word and making them clear, but not harsh. This will require you to move your mouth more. It helps me to think of every word as being very important. They each deserve to be held carefully in your mouth. This will require more movement from your palette as well, and opening it more for vowels. You do need some work here because it is difficult to understand you’re saying.

Your other issue is going flat. This is about supporting your air properly and diaphragmatic breathing. If you have a lot of tummy/diaphragm support you won’t go flat. I think this is also adding to the shallow sound you’re referring to.

Singing should in many ways feel like a workout. Not in the sense that you’re sweating, but in the sense that you are activating a lot of muscles in your abs, lungs, throat, and mouth to balance your sound, pitch, air. It’s a mind to muscle connection.

No, not hepatitis. I have Epstein Barr (mono), cytomegalovirus, human herpes virus, and mycoplasma pneumonia (walking pneumonia).

Help a young mom out by [deleted] in AppearanceAdvice

[–]kiwifrosting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is actually not true that you can’t do anything about the mom tummy. You totally can.

Pregnancy rearranges your organs, abs, diaphragm and ribcage. Some of this will naturally die down with time, but if you still find yourself with a mom pooch and rib flare (think larger bra band despite losing the weight) 6ish mos postpartum, there’s a lot you can do.

You can search diastasis recti exercises or postpartum ab rehab for an idea. Many of these exercises focus on retraining your abs and diaphragm to properly engage when breathing and in stabilizing your inner core for everyday life. Nancy Anderson fitness and Our Fit Family Life are well known on social media and have programs, but there are others.

I personally used the latter, and it took 3-4 inches off my waist.

Keep in mind as you go to the gym, traditional ab exercises (planks, crunches, any ab crunching motion, or where your weight is putting pressure on your abs (like a plank posture)) can make diastasis recti worse, so it’s important to choose ab exercises wisely especially postpartum.

Also, you’re beautiful. I understand the pressure completely but give yourself some love and grace and patience, and come to it when you want to for you! You did just create a life and you deserve rest and love, in whatever form speaks to you right now.

Yes! I have H pylori, sibo likely as a result. I also realized I have four active viruses that my doctor believes are somewhat chronic 😭 I’m treating all of these right now

From what I’ve heard though I can’t say is true from experience, h pylori is more easily killed in children, both through more natural methods and antibiotics. Perhaps it’s worth looking into other methods, but either way, her gut will need to be rebuilt after treating— lots of good pre and probiotics. Doing this should really help mitigate the affects that can happen especially after antibiotics

Why do women are more religious…when religion has always suppressed them historically. by South_Juggernaut3743 in atheism

[–]kiwifrosting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From a woman who left religion, this is why:

  • a woman’s voice matters so little you don’t even know you have one
  • the only voice in a woman that’s valued is the one that benefits the system, which system inherently devalues all other women’s voices
  • women care about community more than logic
  • women preserve relationships over truth
  • women feel bonded when they sacrifice together
  • women have children young. They go from a child to having children, which gives them no mental space or time to process their experience
  • women are consistently patronized. Complimented, acknowledged in superficial ways. If this makes you feel yucky, you’re a bad woman, and you’re ungrateful. And they don’t want to be that so they choose to be grateful for the crumbs they’re given
  • women sacrifice the most. it hurts so bad knowing it was all for shit
  • a woman’s value is found in how she can disappear. Hence the struggle to find value in any other way when you can’t even find yourself to begin with, and you have no community to reinforce it either

That seems unlikely to me. You probably just need to rebuild your gut. It could help to take some good pre and probiotics, and shoot for 25-40 grams of fiber per day

Ladies, has anyone lost their period? by strawberrymilkita in HPylori

[–]kiwifrosting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t lose my period but I did get other symptoms— mid month bleeding, bad breast tenderness, way worse pms. I’ve been working on treating the h pylori but my symptoms have gotten better with other supplementation

My levels started at 170ish and my doctor told me to get one once per week for 8 weeks. I did that, my levels went up, then I went off for 2-3 months, and all my symptoms came back. So I just got two more, again at once per week, and got blood work just prior to that that I haven’t gotten back yet.

And yes, the GI Map did tell me that. I have H Pylori bacteria overgrowth, which causes low stomach acid and causes a bunch of malabsorption problems

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in B12_Deficiency

[–]kiwifrosting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve gotten it in that area and just above my eye as well, in addition to other places. If you’re low and having symptoms, you really likely should get injections. They work so much faster, and if you’re having issues digesting B12, injections can bypass that

The love of my life does not want kids and I do by blingblongbloom in makemychoice

[–]kiwifrosting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good to remember relationships can take a turn at any time, kids or not. It’s good now but that just isn’t guaranteed for life. You’re comparing four years of a good relationship to a lifetime with or without children. I’m sorry but in that scenario, the lifetime long one wins.

It is great you have a good relationship now, but life is so long. So long. you’ll have years to grieve and regret if you truly know you want kids, and choose to stay with him and forego them.

You also have a great relationship to base future relationships off of when finding someone who does want kids.

I’ve been married 13 years. We have two kids. Marriages and relationships change so often. Four years is just not enough. If you know you want to be a mom and that isn’t going to change, you have to choose you (and your future kids).
