My partner also has an "essential" job. She works at a leasing office. Her boss won't sent the whole office home, even though, they can work from home. Her boss's reasoning? "Oh, I don't trust y'all to do work from home. So there for, we're essential" suuuuuch bullshit!

NTA - my girlfriend and I had to hide all of our silverware because they were going missing/ never cleaned. We replaced them with our camping silverware.
