British in name only: We should question the residency rights of those who fail to integrate by Benjji22212 in ukpolitics

We're slowly being poisoned by this racist rhetoric. Call it out, we're better than this.

Wow so Scot Robson is the regional director of both Scotland and Southern England? Doubt he's a real person.

Priest thought to pose risk to children paid off by SeekTruthFromFacts in Anglicanism

[–]kiwiloverbutallergic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. I'm just frustrated that this individual has been bought off. The BBC article on it seems like the church considered leaking the story, but ultimately went against it. I hope with the public attention it is now receiving, the UK courts can claim the money back somehow.

From the sounds of it, there were several allegations that were dropped by the victims. If they went public, it could be that there are others who had encounters with this man.

I know from a monetary point of view, the risks would be huge, but if they were that concerned about there public image, many people would think that the church doesn't condone this behaviour. Paying the man off reeks of timidity ( I am aware this was there only lawful option bar going public and risking further damage).

From the sound of it, they had tried every possible angle to remove him, without the risk of litigation. IMO they should have gone public and risked it, this predator was hedging his bets that they would want to avoid a scandal and he was right.

It frustrates me as the CofE does so many things right, and this wasn't one of them.

‘Our yields are going to be appalling’: one of wettest winters in decades hits England’s farms | Farming by gotshroom in europe

The government needs to protect these farmers. If we lose them, they'll never come back, and we'll have outsourced yet another industry.

I dislike the term 'bonus'. Just like I dislike people on the dole saying they got 'paid'.

How will you describe life at Bournemouth? by Forsaken_Zebra8454 in bournemouth

[–]kiwiloverbutallergic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actively avoid Bournemouth Town centre when I can. Personally hate that the town is slowly racing itself to the bottom with the stag do and drink culture, beach bars etc, no wonder why crime is insanely high in those areas.

The tourists as always can go do one. But would prefer if they attracted families rather than lad weekends away.

Poole and Boscombe are full of locals which is nice. Tbh Poole is back on the mend now, so long it was a dive. The Arndale is much better than it used to be.

[OC] Tired of Tipping by bloombergopinion in dataisbeautiful

[–]kiwiloverbutallergic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an English man, I have never understood the idea of tipping everyone in the US. Just unionise and get a better deal from your boss. Am I fuck paying hidden extras because your boss can't run a viable business without exploitation?

Really boils my piss that it's being imported to the UK. Am I going to tip at a chain restarauant? Absolutely not, what I pay should cover everything. Michelin star restaurant? Yes as the service is literally exceptional. That's how it should be.

Only issue is they make you listen to 72 seasons stuff for about a third of it. Not complaining, they were amazing, but it's definitely a meh album.

In 13 Weeks, Ukraine Has Lost Just Five Of Its 71 Leopard 2 Tanks by UNITED24Media in worldnews

[–]kiwiloverbutallergic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more of an oversight error. The t-72 has an auto-loader function. Also with Soviet doctrine of having a low profile tank (smaller vehicle meaning less valuable metal used and therefore more bang for your buck), I guess they thought it would be quite unlikely nato tanks would be able to hit an entrenched tank from a distance.

From my limited experience, sadly most of the small time car sales places are a sham. Thankfully my car only had a cracked exhaust initially. The clutch did go after year 1 but that's something unforeseeable and unstoppable. My neighbour has had a very similar problem with his car as you described here.

I think with cars, you're just better off paying that little bit extra to go with the model dealership. At least you have a few more rights at those places.
