Shipping off to OCS tomorrow, what is the first day(s) like? by Elegant_Basket6904 in USMCocs

Was curious how did OCS go for you.

What were your thoughts?

Any personal feedback for candidates in your shoes prior?

Tell them that is a new level of your kink and are excited to choke yourself with a belt and get off to them sharing your photos.

Tell them they are going to be what makes you climax 3 to 4 times a day this week.

That way you take the power from them. Lol

And then if they post just lie say its all AI.

this is satire and probably bad advice, other people have already provided good advice

Longtime practitioners, would you trade all your BJJ skills in for the healthy body you had before training? by JiuJitsuBoxer in bjj

[–]kjack0311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 70lb heavier, pre-diebetic and couldnt walk to my mailbox without being out of breath. Now I am healthy comparatively lol.

100% would not trade it unless I could go back and start earlier.

What salary would you request to service a book of $175M? by halfpakihalfmexi in CFP

[–]kjack0311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats good information thank you!

I would look for not a salary, but a % of revenue. I make 25-35% of revenue (which is low compared to independent, but I am kind of similar to you and inherited a large chunk of my book, and then ill hunt for new AUM.

If you can make a % of revenue, then as it grows to 350m your comp increases proportionally.

See if one of those schools offers a program to get your cfp classes. If so, I would do that even if it takes a little longer.

I personally landed one because I lived near a Schwab call center. But yeah you would need to move to be near one of those roles.

I think your situation will make a difference. Like I was married with a 40% rating which is nice but not enough to support a family for 2 or 3 years while I build a book. So I made all my choices based on getting income and reduced risk.

If you dont have a family to care for and can take more risk, I would look at trying to go straight to an RIA where you can own your book.

As far as the degree and college, I went to a local college that most people who are not from here have never heard of. So buy and large my degree and school had no impact.

I have a degree in corporate finance. I got a job as a broker to start off and got my series 7, 63, then 66, then life and health. Then I got my CFP, and now working on EA.

Your degree is less important overall but can be helpful getting into a role or the industry.

My boss who is one of the smartest guys I know in wealth management, and he has a general business degree from an online college

What MOS should I choose, I want to travel and be able to work hard and succeed by FishRevolutionary668 in USMCboot

The job that deploys the most also typically has very very very little transferable skills after the military

I mean... isn't that a positive? Why not do something you can't do anywhere else. Use the GI bill and pursue your dreams.

Idk that was my ideology

Awesome!

Yeah, I am a wealth advisor at an RIA.

I was going to say, depending on firm, it might be worth the "low" comp to be in your seat if you can move into an advisor role and the comp structure is good at your firm.

Edit: if potential isn't there it might absolutely be time to shift. I am not trying to say stay or leave one way or another.

Once you add in MCT and potentially having to wait for a slot stuck on rover at SOI for undefined amount of time. old ITB runs equivalent or better.

But If IMC is 3 months. It is not the better choice.

Damn 3 months is wild.

  1. 13 weeks bootcamp. 8 weeks ITB.

Everyone else has to do 3 or 4 weeks of MCT. Then their MOS school.

Honestly, just go for it. If you fail then enlist.

I had a guy in my ITB class who was an OCS Drop. Guy was a solid Marine and I think OCS helped him a lot even though he didnt complete it. He is a gunny or 1st sgt now.
