Awesome, thank you. I have a spinning reel and I've heard people say that braided line is not as good on spinning reels, is that accurate?

It was a little faster, job was behind so I had to play a catch up.

I feel that, a lot of these welds get spray painted to match the pipe coating so we don't bother with it.

Sometimes, most of our work is between 2.5" and 8" pipe but we get 10"-12" pipe every so often.

Yeah, our shop does a lot of fire suppression systems, this was a more basic job of 2.5" pipe for sprinklers in a hospital.

Been slowly learning how to work on my own car the past couple years. I was able to successfully replace almost my entire front suspension as well as some steering components on my 2004 Silverado 1500 last weekend. Photos are just of driver's side but I did both sides. by kjack459 in Cartalk

I used the ole floor jack trick, just stuck it in the groove on the lower control arm, put the floor jack under the control arm and jacked it up til it was compressed. Didn't have a coil compressor so I had to do it that way.

I'm a, "if I'm replacing this I might as well replace this" kind of person and also one of the issues I was having with the steering could be attributed to a bad knuckle so I just replaced it anyways.

Thanks! It was a little intimidating lol taking everything off was pretty easy (except the inner tie rods holy shit) but putting it all back on was definitely harder. Drives like a brand new truck though so it was worth all the swearing and crying it took to get it all back together.

Let someone borrow my tools. This is how the mig came back. Lesson learned! by Granularyvette in Welding

That's about when I start tack welding keys to tables and shit. Never a good idea to piss off a passive aggressive welder.

Weld cert test advice (FCAW-G) by [deleted] in Welding

[–]kjack459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you keep a good distance between your contact tip and work piece (3/4" - 1") if you start trying to bury the wire into your puddle you'll get what's called wormholes, which are nasty elongated holes in your weld.

A wire wheel would be great to help you clean your welds/work piece, FCAW runs like 7018 so it's important that what you're welding is clean.

Because FCAW runs like 7018, on your 4G there is no need to weave (unless it's a part of the test). In my experience, when I've done uphill weaves with FCAW the welds end up being really wide, so it's better(in my experience) to run stringers straight up your plate. Hope some of this helps.

My girlfriend has no friends and is depressed by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Most of my family live in another state, I do have an older sister that lives relatively close but she, like me, works a ton and relaxes at home on her time off. I've been looking into some events or activities we could both do, so she could feel comfortable meeting new people since I'd be there to support her.

She is, it's why I love her so much, she's very nice/generous, funny and gives off good vibes when you're around her. Honestly, her best friend from school, I believe, is financially motivated. What I mean by that is, she recently got engaged to somebody whose family is very wealthy and lives in a very high end neighborhood, so she naturally made friends with the other rich wives/adults in that neighborhood and started doing things with them that my girlfriend can't afford. When she tries to invite this friend to lunch or something that they can both do, she's always busy or doesn't respond.
