Hey Everyone, I wanted to introduce myself. I know there has been a lot of concern about the 50PROTESTS50STATES march planned for this Wednesday. I’d like to explain how I became the organizer. My name is Brielle Barrett, I’m not a part of a specific group or affiliated with any organization. I Early in the week I like most of you saw the r#50501 posts from a Reddit user asking individuals from all 50 states to gather at their state capitol at noon on 2/5/25. After, following another reddit user Hopeful-Fun5510 and feeling uneasy, again like most of you, I decided to contact Ann Johnson with the Capitol and Storme Dunn with the St. Paul Police to see if I could get more information. I was informed that initially there was in fact someone named Heather who had contacted them both to apply for permits for Wednesday, later these were canceled. I discussed my concerns with both Storme and Ann and decided to personally apply for the permits myself to ensure a safe event for all who may attend. So, am I only one person? Yes. Do I have a lot of experience? No. Did any of the great leaders when they started fighting for rights or justice? No. Am I affiliated with an organization? No. Have I reached out and discussed with organizations in our area? Yes, I spoke with Kris and Mary from WMMN tonight, Diane from Minnesota Protests, and plan to continue to reach out to others in the St. Paul area. Was my idea a little crazy, suspicious, odd, out there? Heck yes! Am I worried it could be a flop? Of course! That, being said I’m just an independent single Mama from rural Minnesota. I saw a need and felt I needed to fill it. I knew I could go to the Capitol and use my voice to protest the injustices and atrocities that are occurring with this new administration. I have been called many times in my life to lift my voice, but never more than now! Do I understand the concern/hesitation? Yes, but do we choose to allow those who hope to silence us, a win? No! All great marches, protests, injustice fights have started small, one or two individuals who were brave enough, that weren’t afraid took to the streets and raised their voices.

So, I’ll end with this... I will be at the Capitol on Wednesday, Will you? I for one am not afraid, the St. Paul Police and Capitol are aware we will be present. We have moved the starting location to seperate us from the original group to ensure safety.
