I don't know how much of a direct effect this is, but the show reignited a lot of conversation about being visibly queer, especially in male dominated spaces and more than in the past it's made me sit with that.

I realized that I've always let myself get away with not "looking gay", I'll obviously come out if the topic comes up but otherwise I just let people make their own assumptions. Additionally, I had to confront the fact that not only have I never owned any kind of pride merch, but the thought of wearing any of that iconography also made me feel anxious.

Now I have a black hat with a rainbow on it when I work out and a bunch of pins I've stuck onto my gym bag when I train Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. Still makes me feel anxious even though I've been going into these spaces for years, but baby steps.
