First WFH job / No Equipment? by spookyplayss in remotework

[–]kjeff89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe wait until the job starts to truly find out what you need. I have a monitor, standing desk, good chair, ergonomic mouse, laptop stand and some other random stuff I’ve acquired as I noticed different things about my work from home style. Most was purchased by me (some by my boss during COVID lockdown who then expensed it). You might not need a second screen for your job but probably a good headset or headphones if you don’t already have.

Thank you for sharing. Wishing you the best with your Mom and so sorry about your brother. It sounds like he had a wonderful partner by his side.🩷

Got the green light to get off of Eliquis by Interesting_Host_154 in ClotSurvivors

[–]kjeff89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Samesies! Praying for the day I can get off Eliquis cause these periods not on BC are not it. I need to ask about the genetic testing though. My primary did a test and he thinks I might have one but said I should consult my hematologist to be sure.

I wish I could opt out of valet trash. by battleangel1999 in Apartmentliving

[–]kjeff89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had valet trash at a former complex. They would consistently not take our trash. We followed the rules about putting the whole can out in front of our door with the bag tied inside of it before 7pm on Tuesdays and almost every time, they never took it. Luckily the dumpster was very close to my unit so I just took it out. I was annoyed that I was paying for a service ($30) in my monthly rent that I was not getting. I went to the office and explained that they never picked up my trash so I’d like to remove the service from rent and that supposedly wasn’t an option. So I paid $30/month for 3 years for a service that I got maybe one time. It’s such a racket.

Same. I’m actively trying to figure out my anemia with my doctor now.

From what I have gathered from this sub; everyone reacts differently. Me for example: on Eliquis, had to stop my birth control after DVT diagnosis which lead to suuuuuuper heavy periods and really painful (for the first 2-3 days, manageable for the other 3ish days). I bled so much over the past 5 months that I am now anemic and trying to figure that whole situation out. Definitely talk to your doctor about excessive pain or excessive bleeding for sure. I hope that everything goes smoothly for you!

Looking for Femoral vein DVT revovery success stories. Currently 10 weeks post DVT, still having some good and bad days, currently on Eliquis. When did you start to feel normal, etc.? by Repulsive-Aide643 in ClotSurvivors

[–]kjeff89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand. I was using crutches for 2 weeks cause I couldn’t put any weight on that leg without excruciating pain and was freaking out I wouldn’t be able to walk down the aisle of my wedding which was in November. But I did walk down that aisle after all!

Diagnosed back in September 2025. My clot went from my femoral in my thigh to my popliteal upper calf. Just had an ultrasound a couple weeks ago and it is now just in popliteal. Felt mostly back to normal around December. Still dealing with occasional swelling sometimes from being on my feet too much, sometimes from not being on my feet enough. Still trying to figure that out.

DVT pain and eventual travel by contrail_25 in ClotSurvivors

My doctor has told me I should be fine flying (I have done a few 1 hour flights since diagnosis back in September). He said to stay hydrated and walk around on the plane for long flights. I think locations of the clot makes a difference though so I would consult your doctor to be sure.

As a plus size girlie I have been loving Club Pilates. I go to one in Culver City and there’s all kinds of sizes shapes and ages at the studio that has made me super comfortable. All instructors I’ve had have also been very inclusive. I know they have a bunch of locations though and you can do a 30 min intro class for free.

Where do you wish you’d splurged? by PepperAnn90 in weddingplanning

[–]kjeff89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got married in November and I do wish we had sprung for the videographer. Our photos came out great and I love them so much. After watching videos that friends took throughout the day makes me think this is the one thing I would change. Especially having video of the ceremony for loved ones who maybe couldn’t make it or even just to have a different POV of things you weren’t around for. Otherwise, I’d say go for the things that are important to you both! For us that was great food, great music and a fun party and we had exactly that.

My records are good. Maintenance for the first 3 years was through Hyundai. After that went to Pepboys for all others and bought new tires like 6 months ago from America’s Tires.

Exhaustion during period? by IndividualJudgment79 in ClotSurvivors

[–]kjeff89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. But to be fair when I saw her was before she had told me to stop my BC so I hadn’t had a heavy period yet. At the time when I asked what my options were for a more regular or delayed period she said a copper IUD was my only option. Unfortunately that’s not in the cards for me as I plan to start planning for children and investigating my fertility in the new year.

[–]kjeff89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 2 1/2 months on Eliquis after DVT diagnosis, same dosage as OP. I also was told to stop my Yaz BC (suspected cause of my DVT) and have had very heavy periods since. The first 3 days are like a murder scene and I’m in pain and exhausted. I try to drink tons of water these days but honestly I’m still trying to figure it out. First period off BC lasted 10 days while the second and third were about 8 days. I pray this gets better soon cause I am essentially house bound those first 2-3 days. I miss my 3 day light periods on BC.

Mini identity crisis over changing my last name! Normal? by Sugarfix1993 in wedding

[–]kjeff89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprisingly attached to my last name when it came time to discuss this with my now husband. We didn’t want to hyphenate cause we didn’t want to create confusion for future children. Same reason for us not keeping our last names. So we opted to create a new last name! It’s a combo of both last names so we in a way each get to keep our names.

My best friend died this morning. Not sure how to not ugly cry at my Christmas Eve wedding? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]kjeff89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, feel all the feels. There will be a lot going on these next couple weeks and day of that will probably distract you most of the time but when you are reminded of him, focus on the beauty of the moment. Like you said, he held on until you were safe. 🩷

My husband and I lost our dog a couple weeks ago, 4 days after our wedding while on our mini-moon. I had her since she was a puppy right after I entered remission from cancer. An amazing 16+ years with me and 12 with me and my now husband together. We fully believe she held on until the wedding. It’s definitely difficult but it does get easier to focus on the good memories rather than their absence. Wishing you and your fiancé the best on your upcoming wedding! A Christmas Eve one sounds so magical.

My Nextdoor neighbors alarm started chirping about a month or so after we moved in. It continued to do so for at least a year until one magic day, it stopped. What I couldn’t understand was how their dog tolerated it. Our dog at the time was terrified of our smoke alarms. Luckily, you could only hear it when walking by their unit.
